Half litre poured into standard pint glass. Auburn colour, clear, 1 finger tanned head, decent retention. Initally aroma was weak but some citrus fruits and notes of Cascade hop came through. Had a bit of farmyard to it, but in a pleasant way. Tasted fruity, had notes of grapefruit, balanced bitterness, finish was long, bitter and wheaty. Medium body, well carbonated, slightly coarse. Pleasant ESB, refreshing decent amount of character.

Bottle to pint glass Lots of malt, pepper, toffee, and a little lemon. Reddish brown, with a thin mottled off white head and a little lacing. The taste is malt, cereal and bread with some bitterness and a little sourness.

£1 in Tesco sale. Quite good. Really should have followed my instinct and bought a dozen for that price

KI=7

A fairly average bitter without the usual Shepherd Neame hop oil taste. Pours with a foamy head quite like a real ale though not bottle conditioned. Reddish brown colour, nutty taste, hops are there but not dominating, slighty resinous. Not bad.

Bottle from local supermarket aroma of fruit and slight caramel. Pours with a miminimal head, that doesn’t last, has a red brown colour. Light bitterness with a medium body. Overall a good seasonal offering.

500ml bottle. Pours a clear ruby amber, with a small off-white head, which lasts fairly well and leaves decent lacing. Floral, spicy and fruity hops mix with candied fruit and toffee malt in the aroma. Floral and mild grapefruit hops up front give way to rich toffee and nutty malt in the mid-palate. Fruitcake and mild spice hops come into the finish. All in all this is quite a satsifying bitter.

Clear ruby red with beige frothy 2 finger head that stays ok and leaves lacing. Medium strong aroma has nuts, bit dark bread, caramel. Crisp palate has potent carbonation, sweet and bitter, long malty finish, medium body, surprisingly thick feel. Works fine.
