4.2 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: MAR 11, 2005 (500 ml bottle). Exquisite aroma, beautiful colour, very bitter aftertaste (perhaps too bitter?) Rerate: I regret part of my first comment: The flavour is NOT too hoppy - it’s just an acquired taste. And the aroma IS exquisite!

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
I like to call this ale ’The Bothie’ as it’s the classic English allrounder. Hoppy, refreshingly bitter and has that distinctive Kentish fizz. Is there any occasion where this wunderale cannot be de supped with pleasure? Is there? The answer is no.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle 500ml. Great beer. Aromas of burnt caramel, nuts, flowers, pine, and a hint of butter. Taste has a sweet start, with lingering bitterness, and very good length. Palate is silky, with a medium body. Amber, with a frothy head.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: AUG 17, 2013 I really like this. Amber/golden colour. Aroma is sweet/toffee and a touch of typical shepherd neame pungent hops coming through. Taste finishes quite bitter and dry but there is a bit of fruit and sweetness to start. a bitter bitter with a nice balance overall. Fairly lively carbonation. A fine mellow easy drinking ale with plenty of flavour.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle 50cl abv4, found at Isrenna Ica, and Matservice Eurospar Langnes, Tromsø.
Offwhite head, down to a 2mm layer on the beautiful and lively amber body.
Rich scents of malts and hops. Good hoppy taste with grass, barbecue notes, and bitter. Mouthfeel very seriously balanced. Ending with bitter, grass, leaves, metal, smoked wood. Overall a rich tasting beer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A good ale, nice nose and a moderate spicyness, some fruit tones, but then that’s not a plus with me.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottled. Chestnut brown, good head and condition. Big hop resin aromas, lots of hop flavour and bitterness in the mouth but low on malt and quite thin and steely. Mainly hoppy in the short finish.

Possibly the mos famous butter made by Shepherd Neame, so when I saw it, I had to buy it. A clean, dry, refreshing, bitter, having a touch of sweetness, but displaying an assertive and vibrant hop with a lingering bitter finish. A pleasing drink.
