Crisp and clean with a refreshing citrussy hop bite, This IPA is burnished gold in colour from the carefully roasted malts used in the mash tun. Hops are added at three stages in the brewing process to give the aroma and bitterness so typical of an India Pale Ale.

50cl bottle from Lidl, Crowthorne for 99p. Another beer that’s rather better than expected. It’s a pale amber pour with a tight cream head; typical Shep aroma; firm malty body with some caramel and citrus; and a touch of white pepper to add a kick to the finish.

500ml clear glass bottle, filtered. 99p from Lidl. It’s drinkable, and it’s cheap. There’s a beer flavour and some hops and some roasty notes. It’s better than it should be for the price. It’s not a fascinating beer, but it’s perfectly fine.

Miedziany kolor.Piana bia?a ?rednia. Aronat nie jest najlepszy .metaliczny i ciagnie kuwet? poza tym cytrusy i trawa. Smak rowiez p?ytki bez wyrazu. Ciezki goryczkowy posmak na finiszu zamiast orzezwiajacego uderzenia cytrusów...s?abe.

Bottle from Lidl as Dad’s Delight. Clear brown amber colour lasting thin off white head. Aroma of pasteurisation. Boiled sweet malt and pepper hop. Fruity malt in the mouth a bit like the Late Red. Some white pepper hop on the finish. It’s fine. Not as pasteurised as I feared. Aroma isn’t great, but the rest is fine. Some decent fruity malt.

500ml bottle from Aldi (I think) - Clear amber with a small head. Florally hop nose, with a soapy taste and a strange watery palate. I think the Master Brewer needs to have a good look at himself if this is HIS choice.

Bottle, probably from Lidl. Copper with a thin head and a carbonation. Light bitter with a low bitterness. Crisp and clean like its description and small malt notes.

A mid brown coloured beer with a weak white head. A slightly funky sulphurous aroma on opening the bottle. This does settle down to let a pithy hop aroma to come through, there is also a faint maltiness in the background. Dry mouthfeel. The taste follows on from the aroma. Although there’s elements of grassy, hop and mild biscuity malt, the sulphurous funkiness is still present, not doing the beer any favours. The finish is weak. Bottle bought from Lidl, Fakenham as "Dad’s Delight"
