Cask at the Old Doctor Butlers Head in the City. This was a mid-brown ale with a small white head. Sampled straight after Master Brew, this is perhaps a more balanced beer with more malt and a gentler hop flavour. It was nice enough but was basically a slightly above average standard bitter; I slightly preferred the more robust hopping in the Master Brew. Don’t seem to get the minerally character found in the bottles in these cask versions. The great advertising campaign should be noted, I awarded an extra point for this.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 BlackHaddock (2350) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 10, 2012
Can’t believe I’ve never reviewed this before: this hand pulled pint was taken at a local pub on the 4th sep 2011.
Reddy brown body with an off-white topping which hung around throughout the pint.
The smell and taste can be easily combind, you’ll find semi-sweet biscuits that contain toffee, caramel and nuts within the mix, towards the end of the mouthfeel a dry hoppiness pops up to remind you this is a proper beer.
Sadly the body is a bit watery thin, a shame because everything else about the beer is fine, well carbonated and easy to drink.

Cask @ The Spanish Galleon, Greenwich. Clear light brown coloured beer with no carbonation and a dence but short white head. Malty dry and short yeasty bread hinted aroma. Medium palate. Finish is full herby dry with some yeasty and malty hints. Ok.
