COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle: Filtered.
A classic beer of true quality, Spooks Ale is characterised by its huge biscuity malt palate, derived from three traditional roasted barley malts used in this brew, giving a glorious deep red hue. The excitingly complex malty flavours are wonderfully balanced by a huge citrusy, hoppy bitterness and aroma from a particularly fruity hop added at four stages in the brewing process.

They have had more fun writing the label on the bottle than to brew the beer, as the description on the label was full of fantasy and mystery. The brew was rather bland with a burnt bitterness that does not let up any malt flavor.

Lots of malty, biscuity elements going on. Sweet. The advertised particularly fruity hops aren’t that particular. Somewhat disappointing. Balanced but a bit boring.

500 ml bottle. L114. BB Apr 13. (Systembolaget) Arvidsjaur, Sweden.
Clear reddish amber colour with small white head. Wood, biscuits, floral hops, mild bitterness and malt in aroma. Flavour is floral hoppy with moderate bitterness, sweet biscuity maltiness and some dryness. Drinkable and balanced. Not bad.
