A classic beer of true quality, Spooks Ale is characterised by its huge biscuity malt palate, derived from three traditional roasted barley malts used in this brew, giving a glorious deep red hue. The excitingly complex malty flavours are wonderfully balanced by a huge citrusy, hoppy bitterness and aroma from a particularly fruity hop added at four stages in the brewing process.

Bottle. Pours mid brown with full beige head that lingers and laces. Aroma is caramel with just a smoky hint. Taste is sweetish malty and biscuity with a dry bitter finish. Carbonation is full mouthfeel is more watery than expected

2015-04-25. Dark mahogany brown body, nice foamy beige head fades. 3+ Nice malty aroma has a melange of English malts with notes of toffee, biscuity toasty malt. 7+ Flavour is on the dry side despite being malt forward. Sweet toffee and caramel in the middle. Mild bitterness. Average plus bodied palate, soft carbonation. It does what it was trying to do rather nicely, a solid take on the style, but it’s not necessarily something I would personally comeback to often. Decent. Bottle from the LCBO, Toronto.

Beautiful color, dark amber with red reflex, but small head. Mild aroma of roasted malt, light feet. Lean mouthfeel, roasted malt flavor, too dry and too ashy for me. Correct bitterness. Disturbing character of burnt malts in the end.
As said, too ashy.

Bottle from Tesco. Poured a clear, deep amber with a thin off white head. Aroma was malt dominated, with some berries and that SN cream soda note. Dried fruit in the flavour, with toffee and grassy hop. Finish was copper, flat malt and straw.

Bottle - 500ml. Brown body with average carbonation and a thin off-white foamy head. Well balanced malty/hoppy aroma with some grown sugar and biscuity hints. Its robust taste is slightly dominated by hoppy flavors. It carries woody, spicy, and brown sugar notes. Ends with a long, strong bitter finish. Enjoyable everyday Bitter.

Pours dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is very malty, loads of caramel and earthy malts with some sweet hop bitterness. Taste is a little smokey roasty flavouring with a small floral hop bitterness. Nice drink for the halloween stroll around the neighborhood.

Has scuttle sweetness to it, aroma of light chocolate. It pours light red, and has bit of a brownish head. Tastes great, and has medium texture. Realy pleasant after taste of almost smoke like Balfour.

500 ml bottle. Pours a clear copperish dark amber with a resilient white head. Aroma is biscuit and a hint of fruit. Flavor is biscuit, spicy caramel, red berries. Finish is very lemoney and grapefruity. Good bitter punch. Lingering citrus flavors. Medium body, soft and creamy mouthfeel, average carbonation.
