COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask: Seasinal - October.
A classic beer of true quality, Spooks Ale is characterised by its huge biscuity malt palate, derived from three traditional roasted barley malts used in this brew, giving a glorious deep red hue. The excitingly complex malty flavours are wonderfully balanced by a huge citrusy, hoppy bitterness and aroma from a particularly fruity hop added at four stages in the brewing process.

Gravity cask at the Wandsworth Common Halloween Beer Festival - Le Gothique, London. Pours clear amber with a big, frothy white head. The nose has grainy bread, dried berries and nuts. Light to medium sweet flavor with light doughy and dry bread, dry toffee, further berry character. Light bodied with fine carbonation. Good condition. Further dry and toasty brown bread in the finish, dried berries, light leafy bitterness. Not too shabby at all. Good effort, Sheppy!

The Hain Line, St Ives. Cask. Pretty much a clear deep amber beer. Small pale cream coloured head. Palate is smooth and semi dry. Smooth malt with a little dry cream. Nice nutty tone. Whisper of dried fruits and mellow peel hops. Finishes semi dry. Tasty enough!

Cask conditioned at a Wetherspoons. Chestnut with beige head. Malty, grainy beer with a large dose of caramel and toffee. There is a fustiness to it, like a damp dog blanket. I didn’t get the hoppy bitterness later on unfortunately, the was just a lingering biscuit note. Ok.

A reddish brown beer, weak head. A bready malt aroma, like a German rye bread! There is also a biscuity aroma. Dry mouthfeel. The taste is a smooth, malty, bready flavour with a mild bitter nut flavour. There is just a slight hint if hop in the background. The finish is dry and malty. Tasted at the 2013 Norwich CAMRA beer festival. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
