2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Light golden summer beer with no head and light carbonation. Light biscuity nose, slightly stale. Taste is non-descript thin fizzy biscuit with watery finish. Palate is watery. In conclusion, watery (but gains a point for being refreshing).

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle from Lidl, amber with a fast-settling head, sweet caramel with hints of vanilla and toasted lemon. Body has sweet lemonade notes over the usual Shepís hoppiness.

Bottle from Lidl. Golden-amber with a thin head. Has a slightly sweet aroma with some hop evident. Itís a touch thin in its body but easy drinking, although not high on character.

500ml bottle from Rhythm and Booze - A flat looking orange body, no head. Nose is a bit metallic, with the taste very bland, and little mouthfeel. Not very good.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Split with KJ. A whole bottle would just, like, get me totally wasted. Slim haloed amber. Aroma of grain, honey-coated cereal and softly mildewed hopcone. Metallic rusty Weetabix flavour with bog standard weak orange and berry Shep hop. Hint of fennel. Whatever.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Appearance: Clear amber with cm thick white head.
Aroma: Raisin, floral, biscuit and caramel.
Taste: Low/medium sweetness and bitterness with low sourness.
Palate: Thick smooth texture, light body, prickly carbonation, fairly abrupt fruity, malty finish which gets increasingly bitter.
Comments: Tasty but not great.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Aroma: Toffee, toasty, light hops
Appearance: Clear, dark golden. Fizzy, thin, off-white head.
Initial Flavour: Medium sweetness, light bitterness, metallic.
Finishing Flavour: medium sweetness
Palate: Light, watery body, fizzy, carbonic bite.
Overall: I assumed that this will be extra special because it is rare... Unfortunately it is a watery sweet beer with a small amount of bitterness.
500 ml bottle, poured. Thanks Andre!

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. One of this breweryís cheap and cheerful range ( Thatís not what they call it but in reality thatís what it is ). Clear bottle with an orange appearance. Some fruitiness with bitterness in the background. For ninety nine pence what do you expect? Has more taste in at than a lot of more expensive lagers. Donít go out your way to buy it but if you come across it then give it a try.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Clear 500ml bottle (now brewed at 3.8% ABV): best before Dec 2013. Obtained from Lidl (UK).
Poured vigourously into an Abbot Ale glass tankard at home on 1 Mar 2013.
The pour ensured the copper/amber body had a deep and full covering of snowy white foam above it: couldnít get the whole bottle into the glass such was the heads size. Took a while to subside too.
Beery aroma: blend of mixed hops and baked barley with mild biscuity notes.
The taste was crisp, almost sharp and certainly refreshing (I might have cooled it too much): again a blend of flavours, the hops controlling the bitterness nicely with the malts just adding a touch of sweetness.
Iíve been critical of Sheperd Neameís cheap supermarket brews: but this is OK, better than most of them for sure.
