2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bought this from the local off-license for 3 euro for a 500ml bottle. I was attracted to the unusual bottle and fact that it was an organic brew. Whitstable bay is supposedly Britain’s oldest brewery.
a = Nice amber color with little head and some carbonation.
s = sort of sweet and honeyish
t = a bit too sweet for me and not enough hops
m = smooth with some carbonation
d = I could drink more, but the sweetness might get to me eventually

Hmmm! Pretty average stuff, quite thin, with a little malty character and a rather harsh bitter/hoppy edge. Not that good!

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: AUG 15, 2007 Nice deep orange colour, with thick head that lasted. Creamy and full in the mouth. Nice biscuity /malty body. I see where some others reckon that there could just be ’more’ aftertaste, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

1.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
From bottle. Malt aroma, pretty typical from this brewery. Clear orange glow with a thin head. Weak. water taste. A little skanky. Skanky finish. Disappointed with this purchase. Didn’t enjoy it. Just had nothing at all to offer. Very poor.

0.5 l bottle. Copper color with small diminishing head. Parfumy and resiny hop aroma with nuts, almonds and marmelade-like fruitiness. Fairly light and dry palate. Nuts and almonds in the flavor along with mild bitterness and some resiny hop flavor. Caramel and toffee in the finish.

50 cl bottle from Systembolaget.
Clear brown color, rather small cream colored head. Very hoppy fruity and floral aroma, nice. Rather weak bitter and hoppy taste, I expected more after that pleasant aroma. Spritzy mouthfeel that takes the edge off the flavor. Drinkable in the end, but not much more.
50 cl bottle at Göteborg City (Säve) airport, on March 12, 2010.
Clear deep golden to copper color, medium cream to light yellow colored lasting head. Malty, bitter, buttery, metallic, citrussy hoppy taste. Especially the head has clear metallic notes when tasted. Rather long accentuated dry bitterness that lingers. Initial bitternes also relatively dry, a bit harsh, medium high to high. Fizzy high CO2 mouthfeel. Not much residual sweetness left. Malty sweet, citrussy and phenolic, resin, scent.
It’s a nice refreshing beer for drinking a bit more slowly. Also good is the fairly low alcohol level. Some fruity estery notes in the back of the taste after a while. It has got a beautiful look, scent is a bit too subtle, taste is disturbed some by the somewhat dominating dry harsh bitterness. Could also do with a bit less CO2.
50 cl bottle on Feb 22, 2014, thanks to Skalman (not on Ratebeer).
Clear copper color, white head. Sweet, malty scent. Malty, sweet, grainy taste. Malty aftertaste. Fizzy mouthfeel, medium bitterness.

500ml bottle from sainsburys, pours a pale golden colour, white head, some lacing on the glass. not much of an aroma to speak of, tastes of background lemon citrus and bready too. finishes with some tartness, nothing special
