Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Pours a clear yellow with a small white head. Initially sweet apple aroma but there’s an astringent note up there. Medium body, low carbonation - not completely still though - sweet apples and quite some sulphur. Astringent finish. 200912

ALLOVATE (2349) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - OCT 25, 2011
Bottle 2008 vintage.
Cellar temperature. Oily looking orange gold and still in the glass. Nose is a potent blend of ripe sweet apple flesh, cranberries, raspberries, nutmeg, red apple peel, French cider vinegar, vanillin and oak. A mild spritz tickles the tongue, the body is huge, syruppy and oily. Quite sweet, gammy and cloying but not alarmingly so. Juicy big apple flavour, a lot of pear too and berries similar to the nose, the nuance of vanilla aids it well. Finish is sweet, liqueurish, the alcohol providing a subtle warmth. Not too long in the swallow. The residual fruit sugar though dominates the palate. The wood and spice of the aroma all but forgotten. Very well suited to a sweet dessert, or alone as an end of night cap. Different. (75cL, The Creamery, Budleigh, Devon)
