The original flavour of Oakwood Special, created from a select blend of our finest traditional cider apples.
It is an exceptional medium-dry lightly sparkling cider with a bright and refreshing taste.

Bottle from Vinmonopolet in Valkendorfsgate, Bergen. Pours a pale orange body with a medium carbonation level. I’ve learned by now that ciders aren’t supposed to have a head, but can’t help commenting the CO2 in some way. :-P Nose is tart, dry apples and wood. Taste is very dry, with strong oak notes coming in along with a slightly tart, dry and short - but still fresh, as opposed to mature - apple flavor. Highly drinkable, although perhaps a tiny bit too dry for my liking. All in all: not too bad, but no memorable cider either.

Initial sparkling a clear medium orange yellow color with a small, fizzy, fair lacing, fully diminishing, white head. Bottle from Brewer’s Droop, Bristol. Deep gold in colour with plenty of fizziness. Woody, barnyard aroma with some apple sweetness. Flavour was a mix of sweet fruit and dry, yeastiness with a tart finish. An acquired taste, but ok.

500ml bottle (Black Door, Helsinki, Cider Festival 2009)
Leathery and tobaccoey aroma. Lively carbonation. Slightly watery taste, but very dry. Finish also very dry, but also quite bacony. Delicious to the bottom of the glass. Very dry, but enough sweetness to be very pleasant.

Thin coarse head does not last. Golden body. Sweet wooden apple aroma with mealy sulphur notes. Sweetish watery apple taste with sulphur notes. No aftertaste. BORING! (0.5l bottle from gr0ve.)

500 ml bottle. Rich golden colour. Crystal clear. Coarse white head. Rich ripe appley aroma. Sweet aroma. Notes of oak. Light tannins. Low carbonation level. Quite rich, but extremely complex. Soft texture and with some residual sugars. That said it is not extremely interesting either. Drinkable.

Bottle. Clear golden colour with a nice head. Aroma of apple, wood, and fart. Flavour of earth, wood, and apple. Ends up very dry indeed.

500ml bottle from Morrisons. Orange gold with no head. Cider no. 3 on cider night. Woody appley aroma. At least it’s a bit interesting. Kind of stewed apple with some unsubtle wood. Some character. It reminds me a bit of stewed rhubarb. Still, not wonderful.

Bottled. A yellow beer with a fast disappearing white head. The aroma is sweet yet acidic with notes of wood and a light touch of apples. THe flavor is sweet and acidic with light notes of apples, and a dry finish. Somewhat odd.
