12 oz. Dark brownish amber pour wih a tan head. Smell is traditional. Dominated by English yeast. HAs dark fruits, some mustiness, dustiness, slightly tart aroma. Malt and hops are mild and add a backing to the yeast. Th flavor tart and fruity, lots of berries, medium to low bitterness, yest is there but milder. Not bad, but perhaps a bit sweet and tangy.

12 oz bottle pours a hazt brown with a fair off-white head and some lacing - looks liked iced tea. Aroma is full of wood, test, vegetables and hops -kind of weird, but not bad. Has a woody.nutty taste with a slightly bitter finish. Body is thin to medium. My rating would be higher if I took into account the bargain price of this one: about half of what others on the same shelf cost. The best $4.99 6-pack I’ve enjoyed in years.

Pours cloudy tea-brown with an equally ice tea-like bit of foam on top. Scent is caramel, toffee, malt....bread. Taste is a slight bitter wood, caramel.....nutty More like a brown ale. Pretty tasty.

Hazy, deep amber and brown coloured body with a thick, rich, dense, long-lasting tan head. Aroma of soap, caramel, apricots, pears, apples, toffee, light hops and a bit of malt. Medium-bodied; Assertive pear, apple and fruity flavours with a hint of caramel, toffee and a bit of earthiness on the back end. Aftertaste shows some sweetness, a lot of earthy and bready malts with a little hit of low alpha acid hops with a faint bit of soap at the very end. Overall, an okay english pale with more emphasis on the complexity than the hops or malt, but the flavours match up fairly well, just the complexity in this seems to be a deterrent from a typical beer of this style. I sampled this 12 ounce bottle purchased from Oliver’s Beverage in Albany, New York on 18-November-2011 for US$2.15 sampled at home in Washington on 27-November-2011.

Nice aroma of yeast, bread, wood, and a little caramel. Unfortunately, after a promising start the taste disappoints. Weak, watery, somewhat vegetal flavor. Probably OK with food, but doesn’t really stand out on its own.

12oz bottle 8/9/11 (Binny’s Naperville Singles Rack)-46° in English Pint-Pours a murky amber with a huge fizzy tan head that gushed everywhere. Aroma of malt, caramel, toffee, and light hops. Taste of the same. This medium bodied brew must be old as it is super carbonated. Still not bad. May be infected.

Deep rusty amberish orange in color. Sweet earthy malt aroma, some toffee, and some light floral and citrus hop balance. Definitely smells English. Taste is surprisingly full bodied, with a big wallop of earthy malts, nutty toffee, and some yeasty dough. Very muted, if any, hop presence on the flavor. Pretty pronounced nuttiness, like a brown ale or something. Almost too balanced overall.

12 fl oz bottle from BOTW (Rochester), served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. GUSHED.

App.: Hazy mahogany with a small, loose tan head. Aroma: Stark, vegetal, earthy, malts, hints of vague fruitiness, blah. Palate: Medium body with full effervescence. Flav.: Vaguely fruity (berries) malts, still kinda vegetal, earthy, stark and British, blah again; dry with minimal bitterness and a British malt finish.

Seriously underwhelming.

decent, but cheap, so that’s a bargain. bottled. pours amber with a frothy head. aromas of roasted malt and hoppy citrus. palate is nothing to speak of. i wouldn’t recommend, normally, but it’s very cheap (at least where i bought it). palate is thin and not long lasting. a little bitterness, a little sweetness. just ok.
