COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed for the Sherwood forest Brewers http://www.sherwoodbrewers.com/ Maidens Blueberry Ale, clearly named after the beauty herself—Maid Marian. It is a golden fruit ale that has the flavor and aroma of juicy, ripe blueberries. A light blueberry ale that is not too sweet and has a dry finish!

Very hazy golden coloured body with a bright orange glow - pretty respectable actually. Aroma of very fake, very potent blueberries, a touch of malt, some light sugars and almost nothing else. Light-bodied; Assertive fake blueberry flavour with some light malt and again, nothing else at all. Aftertaste is bland, aside from the blueberries - if you turned this solid and gave me a bite - I would have said it’s a blueberry muffin. Very potent and strong for sure. Overall, not such a great beer, unless you like an onslaught of blueberries! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Oliver’s Beverage in Albany, New York on 18-November-2011 for US$2.15 sampled at home in Washington on 06-January-2012.

Pours a four finger white head that fades slowly and leaves a good lace. Almost clear pale amber color. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Light blueberry nose. Flavor is almost sweet blueberry, hops show up at finish. $2.15 for a 12 oz bottle from Julio’s Liquors Westborough, Ma.

UPDATED: MAR 21, 2011 An amazing smell of blueberries, the taste however is missing the blueberries sadly.

12oz bottle from Binny’s River Grove. Pours hazy golden orange with white head. Aromas of blueberriess and cereal grains. Flavors of blueberries, some bitterness, and cereal. Has kind of an artificial taste. Meh.

Bottle. Ok, there’s a retarded amount of sediment on the bottom of this bottle. I mean, bottle-conditioned ale, sure, I expect some sediment, but I measure half and inch down there. Anyway, this pours slightly hazy golden orange after I decant the liquid, and it’s topped with a small, frothy white head. The aroma is mostly sweet blueberry, grass, and some Cap’n Crunch cereal (the kind with Crunch Berries added). The flavor is sweet malt and berry, caramel, and some not-too-overwhelming blueberry. Spritzy, refreshing carbonation. A standard, light fruit beer, probably not one I’d want too many of, but certainly a thirst-quencher on a hot day. [632]

Golden-straw pour with a ca-rapload of head. Malty aroma with a hint of blueberry. Flavor is definitely blueberryish. A little thin, but not bad.

Deep golden yellow with a thin white head. Aroma of blueberry flapjacks, wheat and honey. Chewy body with mild blueberry and am astringent finish. A bland shitty beer.

Bottle. Upfront, and admission of likely bias after confronting inferior, basically undrinkable product from this brewer. Nose is loaded with blueberry, nothing but blueberry, but luckily, the natural-seeming kind (or at least a classy extract). Thin golden body with a creamy off-white head. Thin body, low bitterness, a little army of the yeasties (in taste, not vision), and the blueberries, which recede to a sort of accent. Honestly the best of the three, and while there’s a persistent feeling of filth, it’s still drinkable (my palate feels really dirty!).

Bottle. I knew this beer wasn’t going to be good, but I love blueberries. Probably one of my favorite fruits, so I had to get this. And it was on the create your own 6 pack, so I could get only one bottle so why not? Poured a cloudy orange color with a tiny white head. Aroma was all blueberry, then was some malts in the aroma too. That’s why I gave it so high in aroma because I love blueberries. As soon as you crack the top, you can smell the blueberries. I think it may be infused with them and not fresh but who cares. Flavor was a wheat ale backbone, with sugars, malts and you guessed it blueberries. It was like eating blueberry pancakes. It was ok at first then as it warms, it gets kind of gross. Good thing I only got one. I don’t think I could drink a lot of these. Worth the try though

Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), with notes of sweaty socks, blueberry, artificial candy. Flavor is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, unclean. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Ugh. So bad. Make it stop.
