Tim's translation: The DPA (Draft Pale Ale) is 5.2% and limited to draft only. The DPA uses pilsner malt and four types of American and British aroma hops that produce a strong nose, which stands out in contrast to the pale color. Compared to the pale ale this is charactertized with a dry body and bright hop aroma.

Tap at the brewery taproom. Listed at 5.5%. Grassy nose, with light sweetish pale malt. Medium blonde color. Grassy hop dominates the initial. Moderate bittering, lemony, and fairly mild bitter tracks in finish. Thin-medium body. Okay. Fairly minor and mild stuff for this brewery.

5.2%ABV. American Pale Ale. Tapped out rich cloudy gold. 6ºSRM. Nose is pretty non-descript, maybe a little light beery aroma. Mouthfeel is watery soapy. Palate has pale malt flavor with water biscuit, light Graham cracker, animal crackers and a pale raw peanut finish. Hops are bitter, lightly spicy, brief mint, herbaceously bitter like raw bruised kailan or kale. Finish is medium with the same herbaceous bitter. Overall a good brew, but there are so many more IPA options out there that are just as good if not better...but thanks anyways, Shiga Kogen.

DPA? Draft pale ale? In a bottle? Fair enough if it were pale ale served as draft ’only’, but in a bottle, this just makes no sense. Anyway, this is draft pale ale from a bottle, make of it what you will. Looks like a pale ale and drinks like a pale ale. Nothing really expressive, very little aroma, pretty light overall with a little hop bitterness, clean yeast, not bad, but nothing to get remotely excited about. Overall, I might try it on ’Draft’ but wouldn’t bother with the bottle again.

Draft at Beer Fest Yokohama 2014. Clear golden color with a nice lasting off-white head. Solid lacing. Citrus, pineapple and passion fruit on the nose with hints of yeast. Medium-light body with solid carbonation. Fruity and bitter on the palate with a bit of malt sweetness that comes out. Very refreshing with a nice dry bitter finish.

Draught at Bungalow. Very pale gold with lasting head and good lacing. Floral aroma with some yeast. Flavour has lots of citrus, not as much hop flavour as I expected from te style. Nice dry finish.

On tap at the Kyoto Beer Fest 2014. A clear gold with a filmy white head. The aroma is nicely balanced between hops & malts. Medium to light bodied with a zesty mouthfeel. The flavor is really nice, malts, noble hops, citrus, earthy, quite good.

UPDATED: AUG 24, 2014 Aroma: dominated by orange. Flavor: light orange, citrus and pineapple, orange peel. Comment: easy drinking, nice starter. 5/17/2013 3.3 rating 3/2014 Aroma: Apricot, mandarin orange plus peel Palate: Very smooth. Medium-body but with full texture and mouth feel that carries on a long while. Flavor: White peach, apricot, mandarin orange Comment: Texture is really smooth and long, moderate but pleasant sweetness. Would like more aroma. Seems to have improved since I last had it.
