Poured into a teku showing a slightly translucent center with coffee brown translucent rims and barely any foam around the edges. The nose shows somewhat sweet Belgian yeast-like notes with a balanced heft of roasted malts. The palate is light bodied and moderately carbonated. First impressions shows a strong roasted malted bitterness with a light Belgian yeastiness in the background. The flavors slowly change to an adzuki bean-like sweetness that is slight and not overboard. Finish returns back to the roasted malts and a bitterness of the same. Not terribly fun.

UPDATED: SEP 26, 2015 Harvest Brew bottle from Tanakaya. Pours a dark brown with a small tan head that lingers throughout. Milk chocolate bomb on the nose with some light grassy hop character and light roast. Taste is even more chocolate, slightly sweet with good carbonation and medium body. Light toasted cacao finish with milk chocolate noticeable at each stage. Hops were really only noticeable on the nose. I liked it a lot more this time. Old Rating: 330ml bottle from Deguchiya in Naka-Meguro. Poured into an English tulip half-pint. Pours dark brown/black with a modest tan head. Roasted malt, overly roasted coffee aroma. Tastes burned like a Starbucks roast with undertones of soy sauce and leather. Pretty standard and uninspiring Porter to be honest. Not as good as some of their other beers.

Pours black, with amber around the edges. Kind of a light porter but with solid flavor of vanilla, roastiness, coffee. Not too heavy, but flavorful and tasty.

Bottle. Jet black, pretty slick. Nose of black sugar, roasted malt and molasses. Rich body without being too sticky. Soy sauce, smoke, sugar. Lovely stuff.

UPDATED: SEP 23, 2015 Harvest Version on Tap at Marciero. Aroma: Earthy (once warmed a bit), coffee, deep chocolate. light grassy hop. Flavor: Rich, creamy dark chocolate, light burnt coffee note. Long finish. Comment: Hops appear in the nose but not so much in the flavor. Rich mouth feel. I gave this version a 3.7-3.8. Regular Version on tap. Aroma: a bit too cold so not strongly aromatic, chocolate. Flavor: smooth chocolate at first that later became light black licorice as it warmed some. Some bitterness on the mid-palate and finish. Very dry mid-palate and finish.

Bottle at Izuya. Sure I had rated this before, but seems I didn’t. Had drunk a few by this stage. Dark brown colour with small golden head. Aroma is roasty, miso, chocolate, wheaty. Taste is roasty choc, bit creamy, nice and thick, bit fruity, berries, nice.
