Very little aroma, cloudy yellow pale color. Somewhat dry, not strong at all. Not really refreshing for a pilsner,

2/13/15 - Bottle - Good Shiner offering, my favorite from this brewer to date. Light, crisp beer has a good taste, hops were noticeable but not very strong, taste was good and had character compared to other shiner offerings. Nice light offering, and would definitely order again.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
I thoroughly enjoyed this authentic rendition of a Czech pils from Shiner, I think almost as much as Shiner's flagship amberbock. Pours a bronzed amber appearance with white head and lacing, smells deliciously of toasty Munich malt and noble hops. Lots of malty complexity in the taste, not quite any caramel malt sweetness until the finish. Moderately bitter hoppiness, some mild grassy accent, classic saaz hops. Perhaps some citrusy spiciness. Medium bodied, smooth on the palate. Not awe-inspiring but supplies an all-around positive experience. Paired well with some lobster and butter sauce, had a nice palate cleansing but not excessive bitterness. Strongly recommended.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours clear orange-amber with a puffy beige head, very fine lacing, good retention. Aromas of caramel, earth, biscuit, grass. Light body, lively and crisp. Mild sweetness, medium bitter finish with a light lingering earthy bitter note. A little dark for the style, both in flavor and color, but otherwise pretty good and drinkable.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle. Pretty murky and not much life behind the eyes. But this is a sturdy, malty beer, which even comes with a hint of hop ... but not nearly enough that any right-minded Czech wouldn’t object to the moniker. This is American lager all the way. (#5923, 1/20/2015)

2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
355ml twist off (why) bottle. Deep golden pour, nice white head that dissipates fairly slowly. The smell is fairly muted, some toastiness in there which is odd for a pils and also a booze note which is also odd, there is also a floral hop character. The flavor is heavy with honey and metal notes and a dose of savory marmite. It has a bit of lemon, floral hops, and herbs but is bogged down by it’s thick maltiness and savory note. It tastes like a macro and lacks the precision of say a Pilsner Urquell. So many better pilseners in the world German, Czech Republic OR the US. The only thing Ill give it is it tastes much more unoffensive when it gets near the end of the glass which is a plus.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This is one of those where I think that if there were a different name on this label, it would be rated much higher--but not too high because it’s a Pilsner though. I like it a lot though and thus will be rating it accordingly. It’s not much to look at pale orange, very small and short-lived head. This has a solid fresh malt character and just a touch of herbal hops. This is a dry, drinkable beer w/ lots of carbonation along the order of what you’d expect in a cheap American lager--which I do happen to like--and just a hint of sweetness on the back end that brings out a touch of lemon, presumably from the hops. This is really a nice beer from top to bottom. It has a solid malt character w/o being sweet and a touch of hops for balance and bite. In an alternate universe, I could see all cheap American beer tasting like this and that would be a universe that I would like to live in.

I had this at Global Brew. Pours yellow with a white head. Taste citrus, sweet. I thought this was ok. I could drink this again.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
The body has a bright yellow color which has good clarity and some visible carbonation. A tall bright white head sits on top and hangs on well. On the glass the head leaves decent lace patterns. It’s clean and light with pale biscuity malt and spicy floral hop notes. A clean and pale bready/biscuity malt lays down a good base for a tasty and delicate spicy/floral come through. The finish is clean and the palate is snappy and refreshing.

Rated on 7-26-2010 (Bottle) This beer forms a small creamy, smooth white head with a lengthy retention, transparent golden body, fast rising carbonation, and a good amount of lacing. The aroma is malty, crisp, grassy hops, sweet, and fruity. The taste is sweet, lightly bitter, malty, crisp, refreshing, and fruity. The palate is soft carbonation and this beer is medium bodied. Overall, this beer is very easy to drink and is a session, lawnmower beer.
