COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Here at the little brewery in Shiner, we’re happy to serve up our latest anniversary brew, Shiner 102. With a special recipe that sits between a bright wheat beer and wheat wine ale, this smooth, filtered, double wheat ale pours a pale straw color with hints of sweetness. And the aromatic Czech Saaz and Washington Golding Hops and the crisp character of malted wheat are sure to refresh your senses. Prosit!

As i get older, I like wheat beers less and less. I’m not sure what it is but I thought this was a pretty putrid beer. A large part of it is probably due to the fact that it comes from Texas, a natural shithole. This was a definite drain pour.

Pours a clear copper color with a thick head that gradually disappears. Scent is very strong with wheat and has scents of malts and some citrus. Taste is very wheaty almost to the point of being too wheaty. Tastes like an in-between of a wheat beer and a rye beer. Still rather tasty but not my favorite Shiner beer. Rather odd that it’s a double wheat beer and yet so clear.

From notes, 5/8/11: Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a weizen glass. Over the course of my 6 pack, I discovered that an aggressive pour really helps this one. Appearance: Light golden color with moderate carbonation that seems to wake up with each drink. Some cloudiness. Nice fluffy white head accompanies aggressive pour, good white lacing that fades quickly. Aroma: Here is where this one really come up short. Wheat malts are there, hops not detected, mild adjunct in the background. Taste: Again, the aggressive pour really helps. Tastes like a "wheat-ier" hefe. Citrusy and dry finish. Palate: Crisp and on the thin side of medium-bodied. Very drinkable. Overall: Thought it was "ok" at first. But then I felt myself craving this one for a session beer. Something about that aftertaste that I can’t pinpoint. Don’t have a wheat wine point of reference to compare.

Slight edge at the start that goes away pretty quickly leaving a very smooth beer. Light to medium bodied. Overall a nice beer.

This beer rocks. Almost as good as the Shiner Kosmos. I used to buy this about two times a week at the convenience store across my place. Lame they no longer sell it.

Not too fragrant.....pale yellow in color...quickly disepating head. Malt tast up front...unexpected with double wheat description. Malt is sweet...overall watery...with tiny bitterness at the end.

Pours a hazy yellow. Thin bodied with a wheat, lemon, and alcohol bite. There is nothing offensive about this beer, it is simply uninteresting. Shiner seems to be more interested in making beers palatable than taking the risks necessary to make exceptional beers.

Very light color, but tastes like every plant except hops. Body is actually a little heavier than most wheats, but I personally will not be having this one again.

Fizzy yellow. Grassy, lemons, wheat, straw. Very thin mouthfeel. An after-mowing-the-lawn beer to drink out of the bottle.

This brew pours a clear straw color with a medium thin foamy white head that evaporates quickly. Short strings of lacing. Aroma of wheat, mild spices and fruit. Light to medium body with flavors of sweet wheat. bready malt and a bit of tart fruit. The finish is short and mildly bitter with a slightly tangy hops aftertaste. Pretty average all around.
