3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz bottle in variety 6-pack. Poured into lager glass a clear very dark brown color, tan head. Aroma of brown sugar, coffee and roasted malts. Taste adds some chocolate notes, overall light. Soft and palate. Taste didn’t meet my expectation of sight and smell, then again the bottle says lager so I should know better. Considering style pretty good, easy drinker.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
330 ml Botte Pours a dark brown beer, clear it seems, with a minimal sized light beige head. Coffee and roasted malts in the aroma, some dried fruits, and a touch of dark chocolate. A bit too carbonated I think, medium bodied and soft on the palate, quite dry as well, but with some sweetness. Not very bitter, some roasted malts kind of bitterness though. The flavor has roasted malts, dark chocolate, some dried fruits and coffee, both initially and in the end

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A- Coffee, cocoa, sugar, roasty, smokey.
A- Black color, black liquid, tan head.
T- Cocoa, smokey, coffee, slightly malty.
P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, smokey finish.
O- I was surprised with this one. I honestly wasn’t expecting much but the flavor was more complex and deeper than imagined. A solid beer from a brewery that predates Prohibition. Certainly something to be said for that. Odd they celebrate their 97th anniversary instead of waiting for 100th, but a great celebration beer, nonetheless.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Beer is black. Pours a small dark head that leaves only a little lacing. it’s does look pretty active with carbonation. Definitely smells of coffee, chocolate, a little smoky, a real malty smell. Tastes pretty good, you get the coffee right away with a toasted feel behind it. very robust and flavorful. It finishes nicely leaving behind a light carbonated fell on the tongue with a nice after taste. I was surprised by this beer. This is the best Shiner that I have had and I would definitely recommend this beer to any real beer drinker.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle from the Shiner Family Reunion variety sixer bought at WinCo in CDA, ID. Pours black but looks red in the light; has a medium tan head with great retention. Aroma is toasted marshmallow, roasty coffee, raisins. Taste is sweet and roasty; could use some hop bitterness to balance it out. Creamy mouthfeel with a relatively thin body. Not bad. Probably the best one here, which was what I was expecting. Second thoughts: maybe not the best of the six pack. It gets a little cloying after awhile. I really wish there was at least a touch of bitterness.
