2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20
Been drinking this for a long time and never actually got around to putting in a review. Probably would have rated this higher had I not more of the premium black lagers. Poured form bottle into a pint glass. Pours a very dark brown with an initial thin light brown head that fades to almost nothing. Aroma isn’t strong but smells a little sweet with some roastiness. Taste is a little sweet upfront (much like Shiner Bock) and has a slight roasted flavor. Light on flavor compared to other black lagers. Slight lingering roasted flavors. Average carbonation that leaves the palate cleanly. Very drinkable, especially for a black lager. Not much to talk about but would be a very good beer to transition people in to more different craft beers, especially if they are familiar with Shiner Bock.

Got this as part of a variety pack my Mom picked up in Texas, while visiting my Uncle. I am not a fan of dark beers and this is just not my thing. However, it is not as bad as I was expecting and I would guess that those who like the style would enjoy it.

Bottle. Roasty, bit of choc, malty sweetness, nice enough. Little bit of spice.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Brown pour, bit of foam. Aroma is soft, roasted, hint of chocololate. Taste is easygoing but not watery, you can feel the roast but there is not too much of it. Aftertaste is short, nice and drying. Schwarz is not really my favourite beerstyle but I guess this one has been executed quite well.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Thanks ShoulderBroken for sharing the bottle!
Poured into a taster showing coffee brown and barely any foam.
The nose shows subdued round malts.
The palate is fully carbonated and medium bodied showing mostly lager flavors of simple malts and slight black sugar flavors.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Dark brown color. Fairly non description nose with some adjuncts. The mouth is light with some roasted malt character. Slightly acidic, but mainstream accented

12 oz. Bottle poured into pint glass from sampler 12 pack. Quite delicious. Dark malt gives way to nice hop notes. Very drinkable.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 ounce bottle into lager glass, no bottle dating. Pours fairly crystal clear very dark reddish brown color with a 1 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, light dark fruit, herbal, light pepper, and roasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop notes; with solid strength. Taste of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, light dark fruit, herbal, light pepper, and roasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, herbal, light pepper, and roasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice robustness and balance of roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; with a great roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Very clean on lager flavors with zero yeast ester notes present. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly crisp, and lightly creamy/chalky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.9%. Overall this is a very good schwarzbier style. All around good robustness and balance of roast/bready malt and light-moderate earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Drank from a twelve ounce bottle, traded from a fridge. Smells of roasty malts. Tastes watered down, slightly roasted, nothing really else there...
