COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Bohemian Black Lager is a rare and delicious style of beer, referred to in Germany as "Schwarzbier". Shiner Bohemian Black Lager remains true to this old-world style by using imported Czech Saaz and Styrains Hops and select roasted malts to make it our darkest beer. First brewed to commemorate our 97th anniversary, this Bohemian Black Lager remains true to the old-world heritage of the German and Czech immigrants that settled Shiner. Prosit!

Notes: 12 fl oz bottle. An excellent beer to have with grilled fish. Goes down very smooth for a dark beer. A: Dark brown, almost black. Firm head. S: Smells of cereal and other grain. T: A hint of malt, cereal, and grian that is not to overpowered and not to subtle; Very small bitter taste for a black lager. Acts like a pale lager with characteristics of a dark lager. D: Excellent drinkability. Very smooth. Low bitterness for a dark beer.

One of the better Schwarzbier’s I have had the pleasure of drinking. It has an aromatic roasted nut and hops aroma, with some caramel and possibly chocolate taste. It pours a dark color with a tan head. A very good beer in a cheap price range.

Didn’t enjoy as much as 96. But I’m really glad they brought this one back as SHINER BLACK. On tap, i’ts phenomenal.

This beer is a premium Shiner Bock, almost like drinking a sweet, cold coffee. I love Shiner Bock, but Shiner Black even more. This is also a great beer for cooking...try it in a pumpkin beer bread.

One of my favorites!..Black pour, tan head, great smooth taste. Not the beer for the lighter beer fans. A thick steak and Shiner Bohemian Black Lager were made for eachother!

Translucent mahogany with a thin tan head; smooth medium body with medium-high carbonation.

Aroma: roasted and black malts, a bit of leafy hops, and a faint hint of dark chocolate.

Taste: black malt, caramel and chocolate malt sweetness, dark malt astringency, leafy hops, and a nice bready note right in the center.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a Pilsener glass. The label has a brief description of the beer but no ABV or freshness date. Appearance: Its body has a dark almost black color with deep crimson highlights. On top sits a tall creamy light tan head which is long lasting and keeps a small covering to the last sip. Along the way down the glass it makes nice lacing. Smell: It has a dark roasted and toasted maltiness as well as some sweet candy like notes as well. Taste/Palate: The flavor is right on with a nice mix of dark roasted maltiness and hop bitterness. There are notes of dark or burnt toast, dark roasted coffee with an underlined sweetness like dark caramel and a slight hint of cherry chough drop. Hops are light but do offer some mellow bitterness. The finish is a little roasty with pleasant bitterness. Its palate feels smooth and mildly carbonated. Notes: This is a solid example of the style. It’s dark and tasty yet supper easy to drink.

Dark black color with amber highlights. Thin moutfeel and appearance. Thin head. Not great for style - flavor is thin, mouthfeel watery and not so dark. However, I I just think of BEER when I drink and not Schwarzbier or Black Lager, it is really enjoyable. Malty flavor with just a kiss of hops and extremely clean finish. Really enjoy this beer for a beer but isn’t that great of style. Finishes so clean you can drink it in Texas weather and not get bogged down. Would certainly buy again.

Bottle. I really liked this beer. Nice creamy head and very malty and smooth taste. My brother brought me some of this on his last visit. I wish it was sold around here.
