12 oz bottle that was an extra from soonah. thanks John. Pours a yellowish with a small white head. The aroma and the taste mild with corn, sweetened creamed corn and some cereal grains. The palate is a bit weak and watery with soft carbonation. The finish is short and sweet. Overall: meh

Very light yellow. Very tall head, but it goes down fast. No lacing. Smells corny with a very faint hint of hops. Tastes bland, malty and corny. Finishes fairly smooth. Carbonation lasts. Helps add a little bite where the hops are missing. Pretty easy to drink. By the end, I get a little of that sweet sticky taste on the back of my tounge as is typical with a Macro Lager. Overall: Not too bad. I know this is mean, but honestly, it is quite similar to a regular Bud. I feel like they don’t quite cut the corners as bad as AB, but they are shooting for the same basic end product.

Very smooth and balanced yet somewhat bland beer. A decent beer if you’re looking for something fairly light, could use a little more wheat, barley, or honey notes to make it something special though.

Crisp aroma of a hint of hops sitting on a light yellow, crystal clear beer with just a little head. Nothing outstanding in the flavor, though it is very clean with some malt, followed by a finish much the same. Tough to find anything outstanding about this beer - it has only a bit more flavor than the big macros.

Smooth taste. Pours an absolutely crystal clear yellow with a bright white head. Aroma is a bit sour.

Continuing the journey through my mixed 6pack of Shiner is their Blonde. A Belgian blonde? A blonde lager? A wheat styled beer? I’m not quite sure. I dare say I have no idea what to expect, which is actually rather exciting. What’s more fun than the unknown, after all?

Pours clear straw yellow with a puffy white head fading into a whispery white collar. A thin splotchy layer of white film floats like a slick on top of the hazy yellowish brew. I cautiously raise the glass to my nose where I am met by sweet rolls and sweet bread. Ah Hawaiian rolls, oh guilty bready pleasure of mine, how I love thee. Fresh grains are kissed by fresh honey off the comb while bales of hay dry in the summer sun. White bread crust finishes with a lemon twist and a surprised smile of delight. Once more, Shiner impresses with her bouquet of aromas, but I have been stung many times before where she looked nice, but underneath she was not so nice. Reality can be a cruel mistress that way sometimes, and with my first quaff I hope for the best. Soft and very mild, I struggle to find any traces of her lusciously bready and sweet nose anywhere in her palate. Maybe I need to put out a LOST bulletin for her nose because she has gone and is nowhere to be found. Drinking deep a couple more times I stumble across a faint trail of lemon, honey, and bread crumbs that disappear once more into a watery abyss of flavorlessness. I could smell the Shiner Blonde all day long and get far more satisfaction out of it then drinking her will ever give me. Sometimes the dream is better than the reality, as is the case here. There is no room for improvement and nothing more to be found, except for the kitchen sink.

Now that I am six different beers into Shiner Brewing out of Spoetzl, Texas, I can say without a doubt that all one ever needs to worry with is the Bock and the Black Lager. All the others were either average at best or a sad disappointment.

Bottle. Pours a clear pale gold with a thin but large bubbly white head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is a bit weak with notes of grassy and grain. Flavor is similar with a grassy finish.

(12oz bottle) palest of yellows, absolutely no head or bubbles. Nose of metal, apple, very light earthy hops and skunk. Taste of earth, apple, decent sweetness. Nothing terribly wrong here just not enjoyable in the least. Thin watery body with ok carbonation.
