2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Fratto (1814) - Arlington, Texas, USA - SEP 13, 2009
Golden yellow color, a little bit of grain in the aroma, wheaty and metallic flavor, crisp and light.

This one fooled me. It sure didn’t have most of the characteristics your think of as a Pilsener. Tasted more like a light American wheat ale. A bit fruity. Dry finish. Lightly hopped. Pretty watery and lacking in flavor. A little pale malt shows in the nose.

I picked up a mixed six-pack of Shiner. Blonde was another dog in the six-pack. Just nothing going on here.

After drinking this, I really don’t feel like writing a nice long rating, because it was hardly worth the effort of drinking it. It fit the bill of being refreshing, but felt like I was drinking some shoddy macro attempt at a blonde.
2.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 PilsnerPeter (2958) - Flushing, New York, USA - AUG 19, 2009
Bottle: Golden pour with perfect clarity and a white that that won’t retain at all. Sweet pale malt aroma- a touch doughy and sugary with a touch of grass. Fizzy thin texture- has some macro sweet pale malts in the flavor- lacking body with brief flavors and nearly no hop character. Very boring and macro feeling.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 nhamilton (103) - Cibolo, Texas, USA - AUG 16, 2009
Another brew from the Spoetzl brewery in a tiny Texas town. Has a medium golden body with an average white head of foam. The taste is refreshing and goes down easy.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 Acetobacter (816) - Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 14, 2009
Experienced from a 12oz bottle in a pub glass. The beer pours a straw-colored yellow, which seemingly, is the color of almost every style that Shiner makes. The nose is nearly neutral and almost entirely without character. The fact that the style is advertised as a Pilsner is surprising, given the fact that the was not a hint of pilsner malt sweetness/grainyness, nor any notes of noble hops. The palate is insipid, again being nearly neutral and tasting more like an American light lager than a classic pils.
