2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 ljstephenson (171) - Enterprise, Alabama, USA - FEB 20, 2009
Clear golden pour with a thin white head, a bit too hoppy for a blonde, doesn’t finish all that well either.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 badnloose (111) - North Hollywood, California, USA - FEB 11, 2009
The lowest offering from Shiner, though it was so hard to find outside back home that I savored it. Very standard. Nothing bad.
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 milljam (682) - Norman, Oklahoma, USA - FEB 10, 2009
Blah....blah....blah. Terrible pilsener....not that I like pilseners that much...but this is just bad. No balance....bad aftertaste.....I could go on, but why be mean.
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Cavie (3249) - Fort Worth, Texas, USA - FEB 5, 2009
UPDATED: MAR 4, 2011 I consider this to be a lighter version of Shiner Light. The color is a pale yellow, and the taste is slightly watered down.2.9
RE-RATE 6/19/10 Straight from the bottle yo! Aroma is bready and light Pilsen. Taste is big bread and bitter. I don’t think I’ll change my original rating.
RE-RE-RATE 3/4/11 Sounds like my last re-rate was a drunken one so this time it’s for real. This beer pours a very clear light golden color that touches on yellow. It also has a fairly decent head response that billowed up and tumbled over the lip of the glass upon first pouring it. It has a nice foamy white head that begins to dissipate not too long after the pour.
The aroma is fairly straight-forward. Some peanutty-grains with a light light hoppy bite. Altogether not too much going on but it’s also not offensive either.
The flavor is dry bready malts with some wheat grains. Also some corny notes as well that remind me of a pale lager. You know I’m trying so hard to find good things to say about this, but I guess the best thing I can say is that I also can’t find many bad things to say either. It’s just kinda………there.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Sparky (2128) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - JAN 26, 2009
Bottle. Pours a clear yellow with a one finger foamy white head. The nose is grain and light hops. Taste is grassy grains, sweet malt and light pilsener hops. Medium prickly mouth feel. Not that bad for what it is. Refreshing palalte cleanser.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 nqualls (1452) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - JAN 21, 2009
12 oz bottle. Poured a clear yellow color with a two finger white head. The aroma was corn and malt. The flavor was bland. Didn’t taste too much, maybe a grassy finish. The body was very thin.
1.3 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 5/20 EithCubes (3053) - GERMANY - DEC 31, 2008
Bottle. Actively carbonated, pale yellow body, near-clear and extremely noisy. Dusty nose with very sweet pale malt and a touch of citrus. Cloying, lightly malty taste, inoffensive and bland. Watery body. All of these would be reasonably acceptable in a pale lager, or even seltzer, but make for a poor Pils and an inconspicuous beer I’m passing on.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 Meatmallet (126) - Salem, Illinois, USA - DEC 18, 2008
Clear yellow color with a thin white head.Smells like malt and grain but not very strong at all.Tastes has a bit of a wheat flavor but finishes like a glass of water.I heard a lot of good things about Shiner but this beer falls well short of what I expected.
