A true golden lager with a golden heritage of natural brewing.

Pours a golden yellow with a white head. No nose. Palate is not as sweet as Bud with more body. A better example of the American lager than the bigg guys.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. The pour is a carbonated pale yellow under a big, foamy white head. The aroma smells like an adjunct with grains, barley malt, clean hops, and maybe a little corn. The body is light. The taste tends to become more sweet and malted but the intent seems to be to emulate American Adjuncts.

Transfer from BA review on 10-19-12- Poured from bottle into pint glass Appearance –Pours a clear straw color with a tiny white head that fades almost instantaneously to give no lacing. Smell – The aroma is mainly of a biscuit nature with a light citrus smell. Along with these aromas are some notes of a paper smell. Taste – The taste is fairly one-dimensional. It starts out of sweeter caramel with some sweet corn and a lighter bready taste. These flavors persist throughout the taste with very little change; leaving the same flavors that starts out the taste to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is very light and the carbonation level is rather average. The lighter body and the carbonation are good for the style and do make for a quite easy drinking brew. Overall – Quite simple and easy drinking. If looking for a session brew or when looking for something very simple, then this will work just fine.

12oz into a pint. Ok blonde, gold ale, whatever it is. Pours a pee yellow with background sunshine. No head or lacing, hmmm? Taste is grainy, corn, flat malts, like a pbr pretty much, but with a different name. Aroma is fizzly brew beer for mass consumption. Not terrible but def not good. It came in the variety pack so I have to drink two.

Bottle - small foamy head, pale straw color, sweet malt and corn aroma and flavor, mild hop balance - fair overall ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
Earlier Rating: 8/20/2013 Total Score: 2
Tap - no head at all, light gold color, pretty generic pale lagerish aroma and flavor, nothing special here ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Saving the worst for last (out of the mixed-sixer). Labelled as "Shiner Premium Beer". A light piss yellow lager. Very bland and thin. Not to hate on yellow lagers for the sake of hating on yellow lagers, but this is quite dreadful.

Hold on to your hats folks. There is a story behind this one. My wife, you know the one that brings me beer from her travels went to Ithaca NY, and brought me back a mixed 6er of Texas beers. Its the thought that counts...... This beer rating is also brought to you by UDBeernut’s subliminal hypnosis. He made me do it! This is fantastic in the heat. A medium to light body with some tin and thinner grains. Finishes clean and bright. Not much nose, or body for that matter... but its a nice quencher in the muggy heat. Groove.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. Appearance: It has a bright golden body and a vividly clear look. It also has some visible carbonation making its way up to a small white head that fades out quickly leaving no lacing. Smell: The aroma has notes of cornflakes and white bread. Simple and clean. Taste / Palate: The flavor has the same simple and clean character. It’s light and made of pale maltiness with neutral dry hop bitterness.

Bottle received in trade, labeled Shiner Premium Beer. Pours a crystal clear medium golden color with a decent sized bubbly white head that quickly dissipates to wisps of foam on top. Aromas of light bready pilsner malt with a hint of either caramelized sugar or caramel flavoring and a hint of prune type fruits. Very faint aromas of earthy spicy hops round us out. The flavor is a bit sugary sweet with hints of prune or fruit. Little to no hop flavor and just enough bitterness to keep this from cloying. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation. Decent brew, but nothing to go out of your way to try like I did.
