UPDATED: DEC 18, 2008 A nice introduction to microbrews for someone who may not be familiar with something that tastes different that the big three beer producers. Nothing to brag about hear, but not much to complain about either

UPDATED: JAN 9, 2007 (bottle - 12 oz) Light gold color with a fizzy white head. Aroma is slightly sweet with some hops and a touch of corn. Flavor is very light with a slightly bitter middle and a clean finish. Very good session beer.

UPDATED: NOV 24, 2007 pours a straight golden colour, some fluffy head, lacking lacing.. has a sweet faint honey smell, more sweetness than bitterness, goes down quite nicely during a bbq. also makes a good honey mustard, once again shiner shines

(Bottle) Pours yellow with large white head and fine carbonation. A light bodied beer, but that’s exactly what I expected. Slightly malty and refreshing. Nothing in the way of off flavors. A little bit sweet for my tastes, but overall not bad. I would rather have one of these than their Bock.

Bottle. I like pilsner style beers so this one appealed to me. Lighter in color and taste than say a Pilsner Urquell. Much better than the usual run of the mill massed produced lagers from the US. I like Shiner beers and I like this one.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a very large sized head of finely sized white colored bubbles that was and left behind a transparent softly carbonated yellow colored body and a very good lacing. The aroma was hoppy malty and slightly astringent. The mouth feel was smooth and flat from start to finish. The flavor contained notes of malt hops and astringent. Not one that I would buy again.

Not really a Pilsener guy, so maybe I am prejudiced, but I found nothing special in this brew. Nothing out of the ordinary or memorable. If you want a good Shiner beer, try the Bohemian Black Lager (schwarzbier).

12 oz bottle from Woodmans on Gammon Road, Madison (Oct 2006) served a tad above fridge temperature in a Corsendonk glass. Pale quite clear gold with a moderate immediately dying white head, some continuous bubbling and more than a hint of lace.....smooth, dull pale malty nose with unobtrusive faint German hops trying to peak through, doesn’t smell really fresh though not exactly stale either....drinkable, slightly sticky, salty pale malts with barely any hop profile but just enough faint grassiness to keep it from being really cloying, no serious problems here and a nice level of carbonation keep this a reasonable though very boring cheap pils.

Hangover (1094) - Atlanta, Alabama, USA - OCT 3, 2006
Clear yellow pour with a fizzy and very short lived head. Aroma is of grass and hay. Some honey creeps into the taste along with some unwelcome cardboard. Carbonation level is right for a pils. Moderate bitterness. Bleh.

Bottle. White head, sparse lacing, minimal carbonation, transparent, and a yellow golden hue. Sweet, malty and corn nose. Blah. Flavor was ever so slightly better than the nose-sweet, malty, and somewhat refreshing tasting. Might have tasted better on a hot day, but it wasn’t a hot day. Mouthfeel was smooth. Light body.
