Semisweet, light golden lager with a hint of fruitiness to it. I was surprised. It isn't all that bad. I think I would rather have this than BMC.

looks like an american standard, quacks likes an american standard. not much sets this apart from the miller products of the world. a little more malt character and a slight buttery flavor. clear light yellowish/golden. virtually no carbonation or head.

UPDATED: SEP 20, 2004 Light, well rounded and thirst quenching, Shiner Blonde is a pretty decent American standard, and I enjoyed it. But at 6.29 a six pack, I'll waltz across Texas with a ewe before I try any more of it. I think putting it in the pilsner category is a stretch.

UPDATED: NOV 22, 2009 Very light colored beer with sweet malt aroma. Very good light malt character with light biting finish. Decent. <<OK, this was a very early rating in my "career", and Iíve adjusted it based on my broader perspective now.>>

Clear as glass and light golden. Oily head dies quickly to a thin film. Moderate carbonation contributes to a decent mouthfeel. Light, easy-drinking beer, albeit mild malt and hop flavors. Finishes light and a little watery with only a hint of herbal hops.

Fizzy yellow pils. Drinkable but uninteresting. Those of you looking to try other things by the little brewery in Shiner, TX should try the Winter Ale, Honey Wheat, or Hefeweizen offerings. Shiner Blonde is not worth the effort.

Good at what itís supposed to be...an inexpensive beer to chug while eating cold pizza. Wonít win any awards on flavor, aroma, or looks, but it beats drinking Bud.

An ugly little sister to Shiner Bock.
