a pale golden yellow color, with not much head, but with a lot of carbonation. A light pine flavor, and a hint of possibly an orange smell. Hard to tell. Not a particularly bad beer, just not too good either. It would probably be a good hot summer day, working outside, really want a cold one type beer, but not anything spectacular.

Wife bought this as she hasn't got into big beers, so I decided to try one. Not as bland as most BMC's, but not by much. Pretty flavorless, and is not improved when it warms.

Pours clear yellow with a small white head. Nose is malt and hops. Very crisp taste with grass, hay, malt and hops. Not as bad as everyone else has made it out to be. Like a standard European lager or pilsener. This would be real nice during the summer. Finishes sort of bland but decent beer nonetheless.

carboloader (673) - Houston, Texas, USA - NOV 10, 2003
pours pale yellow with small white head that dissipates immediately. Aroma is some malt and citrus. Highly carbonated. Flavor is inoffensive but nondescript. Tastes like light beers from big breweries. Maybe a little more flavor, but still not as good as other Shiner brews.

This really was not bad, if you are into drinking something that taste like Pine-Sol. This was just something I was drinking while moving furniture in and out of the house, so it served it purpose, it was cold and refreshing but that aroma and aftertaste are a hard pill to get by and swallow.

whaleman (2178) - North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA - OCT 1, 2003
Pale straw with abundant carbonation and a small sudsy head. Light malt aroma and a touch of hop spice. Moderate sweetness, bland fruity flavor, weak grass and pine notes, and some bitterness in the finish. Light body. Inoffensive but dull.

I had this out the other night while drinking Arrogant Bastard, Full Sail, etc., and wow, it was just put to shame. Extremely plain, bland beer. Apperance is that of water with food coloring. Aroma and flavor are weak. Some college girls may like it.

Painfully plain for a Shiner beer. recently added sexy pin-up girl art to the label to bring dumb texas males back to this bland waste of time.

Straw hue with a white rocky head and fair lacing, thin-bodied (go figure). Grassy and floral nose with hints of orange, grape, and grains. Fruity and tart taste, clean and crisp, but not much else on the finish. For the masses, not complex, easy drinking.

UPDATED: AUG 7, 2011 The blonde on the label has potential, but needs to be developed. Ding for the screwoff top. Gold beer. Fine white head. Stinky, scorched malt aroma. Very slightly tart and a little grainy, though there’s just not much going on in the flavor department. A silky mouthfeel takes the edge off of a fizzy palate, which finishes quickly with a mild metallic note. A passable beer for the summer Texas heat, I reckon.
