Bottled. Poured clear, near watery golden with a fluffy, well-retained white head. The aroma picked up honey and corn-like malts and.. well.. not much else, but it was non-offensive. The flavor found bread and honey at the core with a dry, scratchy bitterness extending outward.. a touch of lemon too.. again not bad. Light-bodied and dry on the palate.. nice tartness from the lemon.. a bit too watery.

Pale clear yellow golden with a thin, short-lived ring of white head. Grainy pale malty aroma has some earthy noble hoppy character. Body starts lightly pale malty sweet with hoppy character toward a watery, well-carbonated bland finish

Poured a very light yellow with a white head that faded quickly. Not much aroma, but a little skunky with some pale malts and fruit. Decent malt flavor with some light sweetness. Taste is not as skunky as I expected. Finish isn’t the best, but overall it is drinkable.

This brew was above average, barely, but honestly it did not have any real distinguishing qualities. Would I drink it again? Yes Would I seek it out? No

Elwood (1834) - Between a rock and a hard place, Virginia, USA - OCT 15, 2010
Serving: 12 oz. bottle from a local grocery store near Frisco, N.C.
Aroma: The nose has a strong odor of wet paper and a touch of wet dog. There is some light sweet malt way in the back. Not very good.
Appearance: It pours a very pale gold with a small white head. The head is gone in seconds.
Taste: The flavor is a mix of honey, club soda, and pale malt. Sweet yet tasteless all at the same time. Finishing this one is going to be a struggle. It reminds me of malt a watered down malt liquor.
Palate: Light and watery in body with prickly carbonation leading to a dry, club soda like finish.
Overall: This brew is pretty dreadful and should be avoided.

UPDATED: OCT 17, 2010 This is the world famous brew from Shiner right? Shiner Blonde? It’s a Pilsener though.

Not one of shiners best. I think they were trying to appeal to a more junior, or less taste searching client. Shiner is known for flavorfull, if not to me Heavy sitting beers. I love them, just cant drink loaves of bread like I used to. So I think they are trying a crisp, fresh, gold beer for all. Not bad, not great.

rampmaster (643) - Alden, New York, USA - SEP 28, 2010
Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a shaker pint glass. The label has a brief description of the beer but no ABV or freshness date. Appearance: It has a straw yellow/gold color body with very good clarity. There is some visible carbonation and a tall bright white head on top. The head fades to a wispy thin layer white make some slick lacing. A quick swirl is needed to keep some head on top. Smell: The aroma has a light clean character with hints pale biscuity malt and some grassy hops. Taste/Palate: Following up on the aroma the flavor gives a light bodied offering with a pale biscuity base and light grassy hops. The carbonation is borderline fizzy but average for the style. Notes: This seems to be a very average beer all-around. It is clean and simple.
