Shiner Bock

Bottle. Pours an amber body with an off white head. Dried fruit and caramel thin and sweet with a light nutty character, sub par.

Medium head, medium color, medium aroma. All around a solid, drinkable beer, but nothing that leaps out as unique. Which, of course, is in and of itself unique. I’ve had better, but you better believe I’ve had worse. Wouldn’t mind having one in the future. Like Yuengling, but minus the acorns.

Well, had to raid me brothers stash as I am all out. Have been on this Sierra Nevada Torppedo run for a while. Love that stuff. Well, found a 6er of this. Didn’t bother getting a glass out. Pour a bit in the sink and gives a clear amber colour. Nose is slightly grassy with malts and some caramel....and something else. Maybe some candied nuts. Taste is spritzy and almost root beer like fusion of Budweiser. Some caramel and malts in here. Really it’s about as off putting as the wood paneling in the photo. More of a candied "meh." Wouldn’t mind sneaking in and switch out a phot shop alteration of the label, replacing the "B" in "Bock" with a "C."

On draft at Kemah boardwalk. Dark amber with not much head. Taste is mildly bitter, with a hint of malt, overall bland. Decent, but not much character, no need to sample again.

12 oz bottle from Wal-Mart. Pours a dark brown color with a nice off-white head. The aroma is light honey sweetened malts and light toasted notes. The flavor is simialr; a fairly sweet malt profile, very little hops are noticeable, toasted flavors and a light nuttiness. Decent. Reminded me of a cola.

An american classic, maybe in the wrong way..shiner Bock is a boring brew, some roasted malt, easy to drink, but otherwise boring brew, lets see some Texan microbrews start to put out some decent stuff!!!

Why is this beer so popular? Not much in the way of aroma or taste going on here.

If you want to drink flavored water, drink it with rust out of my well at home. This isn’t even that good.
