Yeah, if I hadn’t cut my teeth on this beer I wouldn’t score it this high but them’s the breaks. What the hell else are you gonna drink while listening to Texas blues in some sweaty dive bar? Lone Star? Well, yeah, but this is way better.

12-oz. Pours a crystal clear ruddied medium amber with a loose thin rim of gray. Aluminum and cabbage on the nose. Creamy light body, goes watery in spots. Minimal carb. Cabbage and aluminum on the mid palate. Not much happening here.

Pours dark amber with a tan head that disappears very quickly. Aroma is of malts and floral. Has a nice, smooth flavor with floral and herbs.

Don’t understand all the low scores for Shiner, but this is a ’go-to’ beer for me. Pours a dark amber with a thin head. Aroma is a little sweet, floral and a tad pungent. Texture is light on the palate, with sweet overtones. Lighter than your typical bock, but still enjoyable. Smooth taste, priced right, easy to drink. This is a winner to me.

On tap at local resturant, pours a very dark amber/brown with a thin head, it was served WAY too cold so I didn’t get much out of it, the aroma was slightly sweet with a hint of caramel, the flavor was pretty blah with some notes of caramel and malt in the finish, drinkable I suppose.

I love bock beer, and this is what I settle for when I can’t afford or find a better bock. It’s caramel (but neither bitter nor sweet) taste, and somewhat watery texture reminds me of years ago when I would regularly drink Huber Bock in $6 cases of returnable bottles. Not bad at all as a session beer

On draft at Doyle’s Pour House, Tuckerton. A mild malty Bock, intended for a session.

One of the first beers I’ve ever had. You can’t live in Texas without trying Shiner Bock at least once. Used to drink this all the time back in college. Made a point to go back to it and was disappointed. Aroma is of caramel malt and little else. Pours dark brown with little head. Taste is medium sweetness and little else. No hops, at least that I can detect. Overall, a good cheap beer for when you’re at the bars and have little else to drink.
