Doesn"t shine, nor is it a Bock. Poorly named and a poor excuse for a decent beer.

bock, what bock? thin mouthfeel, averagely lager-ish flavor. itís like a dark michelob.

Nice amber color with weak aroma. Small amount of hop flavor with a thin body. This tastes like a light version of a typical German beer. Nothing great, though.

Rating the one draft I had last night. Called a bock but its just another American standard beer. Has a better taste than Bud/Coors/Miller (not saying much) and works well if youíre at a bad bar with freinds and theres nothing else.

I"ve heard a lot about this beer from Texans and it doesn"t even come close to being that good. Plain, bland, and a bock? I don"t think so.

Golden brown in colour, completely absent in smell...very little flavour!

Not a terrible dark beer... not great either. I guess itís pretty cool that it comes from Texas, but Texans always brag about everything there being so much bigger??? So I guess I shouldnt be shocked by this being a BIG disappointment huh? Had to zing there -- but on the whole, not bad. Not great. Just another dark beer.

Dark copper in color, small head with little retention. Weak malt aroma. Bland flavor with only a hint of bitterness. Medium-to-low carbonation. Finish is somewhat sour but mostly non-existant. Only slightly better than the macros, which is very disappointing.

An OK beer. Some malt sweetness to it, with a little caramel too. No real hops to speak of. Almost a Michelob after-taste. I agree that it is a little thin on taste, too, for a bock.

UPDATED: OCT 24, 2003 Here in Texas, this widely available bock is a staple of beer drinkers looking for something a little bit better than coors or bud. Amber color and mild spicy flavor certainly work for this beer but the head is course and foamy like the popular aformentioned macrobrews. Besides Guiness, this is probably one of the better beer's you'll find at your local convenience store. This beer compares to AB's Ziegen Bock. I find Shiner a little bit spicier, though.
