4.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
My favority Bock beer. Best when from the tap. Can be a bit heavy with medium malt flavor. One of several fine Spoetzl brews.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Nice dark amber. Decent head. Mild malt flavor. OK, so it isn't the world's best bock. It is a good session beer, and a good introduction into the world beyond pale American lagers (I know-it was mine a couple of decades ago, when it was a bit harder to find).

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Medium amber to light red color. Mild fruity flavor and aroma. Not as great as was being passed around the bar.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
This one poured a straight amber color with a decent sized head,, white and frothy in nature that made valiant attempts to lace the pint glass. The aroma is not attractive by any means. Stale malty and wheatiness, combined with a cardoboard wetness dominate...very filthy smelling. The taste is much of the same. Weak metallic and watery palate, some malts, but a dominating nastiness that almost has hints of old wheat and grains. Mouthfeel is watery and dry...little flavor or redeeming qualities to make this any more than an average domestic buy. Slight bittering dryness...eh...thats it.

1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
UPDATED: NOV 4, 2006 OK, they told me this was a local craft beer. What makes it a bock? Not a terrible American standard lager. One was more than enough. Did not bother to finish it. // Tried another and could not drink it. Swill.

2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Wary but interested - $4.50 a six in a big display. Damp cardboard maltiness confirmed my suspicions - not that good, but worth the shot, anyway.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
The fact that this is called a bock it what cracks me up. Just another bad tasting amber lager in my opinion, and the excessive bitterness part is way off.

1.2 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 3/20
Just a step above BMC. When a commercial description includes the phrase "without excessive bitterness," its just best to skip it.

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
It"s ok. Seems a lot like your standard North American lager with a little color and sweetness added. I"d much prefer this over BMC.
