Is a distinctive, rich, full-flavored, deep amber-colored beer with an inviting smooth taste without excessive bitterness.

Pours a nice brown, more of a dark amber, small head, and no lace really. Earthy malt aroma with a slight hop character. Nose also has a bit of yeast or wheat in it. Malts again dominant in the flavors with sharp bitterness with touches of alcohol. The wheat characters come out a bit as well as the earthiness. Sweet malt body and palate with a hoppy finish.

Aroma: mild but decent; Appearance: good dark reddish color; Flavor: marginally superior to macros. Overall, this is definitely not the best choice you'll have at the bar or store. Any other mircrobrewery product would be better.

bottled: this stuff is like any bad american lager. hardly a bock with 4% abv and their is no taste. at least not good taste. lets see, hmmm pabst blue ribbon, meisterchow, or shiner bock.....many people were drinking this a while back because it had color to it, food coloring that is. even lance armstrong loves this crap. well definately EVERYTHING IS NOT BIG IN TEXAS!

Awesome color, average head with minimal lacing. Not as full-flavored as I'd hoped. I wouldn't purchase this again.

First time I had seen this beer ever..they seem to be making moves in the PNW. COmes in the 12 oz long neck..I like the old fashioned label with the goat. Not too bad a beer to look at a nice darkish brown, with a good sized off white head..some lace. Smell is ok fresh, but reminiscent of some of the better American macro lagers. I felt let down by the taste I expected at least some chocolate type malts but none just regular old American lager taste..its is smooth though..and has some tiny hop notes at the end.. Pretty weak and thin in the mouthfeel deparment. Its drinkable..its a just above average American lager..I dare say if I lived in deepest Texas this would be a great beer considering.

Big Ass Bottle. Nice deep brown color with a large head of largish bubbles that fade quickly to nothing, leaving a bit of lace behind. Nose: I smell an infected beer--phenolics all over the place--bandaid brand adhesive strips comes to mind. The taste is the same. This is a moderately fresh bottle--I picked it up in Houston in early November 2003. Got it at a high volume, reputable liquor store, so I don't think it's been on the shelf for two-three years. Wow. This beer is the worst beer I've tasted since my encounter with Samuel Smith's Imperial Stout.

Nice red color with an average sized tan head. Can't describe the scent, but its unpleasant. Metallic tasting, with caramel flavoring. Can't say I'll be picking this one up again.

UPDATED: JAN 29, 2004 Bottle pours a reddish/copper color with a nice off-white head. Aroma is fairly transparent... perhaps a faint smell of oats. A bit of malty sweetness but thats about it. Its very watery, which probably explains why its so thin. Dissapointing... Did I mention watery?

UPDATED: AUG 31, 2007 This is a darker amber color, with a nice white head. The nose is grassy, weak, and not very inspiring, and the first taste is the slightest bit bitter, but then there is a slightly sweet brown sugar taste that catches on as you drink it down. It isn’t a full bodied beer, but it’s not watery either. It is not complex, and only slightly dry. It is not a terrible brew at about $5/6.
