Pours clear brown with a thin ashy tan head. Aroma is faint but mostly adjunct with maybe a little caramel. Flavor is more adjunct kind of sour, grainy malts. Finish is tart and metallic, in a bad way. Was one of the first "dark beers" I tried back in (maybe) my underage years thought I’d give it another shot, it’s still not very good. Way overcarbonated too, but that’s probably a good thing, because you’de probably want those malt notes washed out.

If you can’t get past this one, you’re doomed to drinking MGD or gosh forbid, Coors Light. Yes, this is the training beer for Texans who want something better. But I digress. Darker and more flavorful than pale lagers.

clear, dark brown color, slight tan head that quickly dissipates. airy, almost non-existant, sweet malt and corn aroma. flovar is slight, slight earthy malt hint, with a trace of corn syrup...otherwise, nothing else. light bodied, corn syrup finish. pretty pitiful. i checked for an expiration date on the label, but didn’t see one. if the brewer was aiming for frizzy water, then he hit his mark.

Bottle: pours a dark amber with a quickly disappearing white head, aroma is malty and sweet (has that low quality smell), taste is malty with plenty of carbination yet it somehow leaves a flat taste in your mouth. Downtown San Antonio sucks for beer. This and Fat Tire were the two best singles I could find to bring back to my hotel.

Bottle. Deep amber pour with a medium head that dissipated quickly. Very light caramel malt aroma. Flavor of sweet malt without much else going on. Fair amount of carbonation. I guess I’d agree with what seems to be the general consensus; inoffensive and easy to drink, but mostly boring. Would probably work well as an early transition beer from macros to micros.

This is the first dark beer that I ever really enjoyed, so I credit it for helping me get over the ’’dark beer fear’’. It had been a year or so since I had a bottle, so I decided to give it a try. Nice balanced, malty/hoppy smell. The flavor is very smooth and pleasing. The carbonation is balanced. The color is a light brown color. pleasing aftertaste because of the malt. Overall a good beer to keep around.

A nice bock to have around out of season. Not much going on in the aroma a little sweat. Looks a lot like other bocks. Flavor is malty but not very complex. Palate is flat. I’d only buy this one buy the 12 pack. Good to have around when I don’t want to give out my good beer to those who might not appreciate it.
