Shiner Bock

Mass produced, classic Bock flavor. Brown pour with a hint toward red. Thin head quickly disappears. Nice smooth mouth feel and mild aftertaste. One of the most popular bar and restaurant beers available in the Houston, TX area.

Bottle - Pours a dark amber. Almost no head at all. Slight sweetness. No mouthfeel. Not a bad beer, in fact its very drinkable, but overall very dissappointing. People had talked this beer up to me, but its pretty plain and ordinary. Just nothing to talk about.

Dark amber brown pour with quickly receding finger of head. Mild malty aroma with malt, caramel, slight spice and nuttiness - nothing distinctive though. Fiizzy/sudsy on the tongue, but mostly smooth/silky going down. It’s a beer and it’s there.

Pours a rich amber hue with thin, off-white head. Quite smooth and very drinkable with little carbonation. Flavor has hints of caramel and malts. I was not impressed with this very basic bock.

(bottle): Pours a brown-red body, clearish. Nearly no head, off-white. Nutty, fruity?, grainy? aroma; fizzy. Nutty watery ltaste. Plainish.

Draught. With the dark color of this beer I was expecting more.Smells the same as it tastes,some caramel flavors along with some light fruits, I could not place the flavor untill reading another review here saying "tastes like watered down diet cola" you hit the nail on the head. Sorry it’s just not for me,,fun to try;but not to buy

I was expecting so much more from this beer, as I am a fan of Shiner Hefe-Weizen. The Hefe-Weizen is distinctive .... but the Shiner Bock is just another bock and not a great one, at that. While I wouldn’t turn down a bottle of this at a party or cookout, and it is loads better than the average American lager, I probably won’t be buying anymore of this.

I’ve just had my first sip of this "bock" or so it says on the bottle. To me it tastes like watered down diet cola. Thankfully I only have one bottle of this very bad brew.
