Is a distinctive, rich, full-flavored, deep amber-colored beer with an inviting smooth taste without excessive bitterness.

A pretty decent toasty beer. Really you have to drink it in TX something makes it better there.

Subtle light bread, cereal aroma with definitive grainy notes. Pours a clear amber brown with light frothy head that subsides quickly. Taste is slight sweetness with the bready lagerness coming through. Light bodied thin texture with a strong amount of carbonation. Nothing amazing just a simple Bock.

The only flavor present is toasted malt. It’s not sweet or bitter so there must be just enough hops to cancel out the sweetness of the malt without making it bitter. I have to commend them for hitting that balance. But there are no other flavors: fruit-spice-coffee-chocolate-nuts-hops-yeast; none. So I guess this is why it gets a lot of low ratings for being too boring. However, if your craving a nice toasted malt flavor that’s not bitter or sweet then this is a prefect choice.

This is a nicer dark beer that would go great with dinner. Pretty subtle, not too much to it, just a little sweet.

I know people really love the crap out of this beer, but for me, Shiner Bock was just plain boring. It reminded me of watered down iced tea mixed with beer. Definitely not my thing.

12fl oz bottle poured into a scotch glass (I’m at a hotel and it’s all I could find). Slight amber hue, mostly brown with a fair amount of lingering creamy tan head. Aroma is a bit yeasty, with some metallic notes, kind of a dishwater quality to it. Flavor is slight sweet malt. Finish is the same with some metal. Very thin bodied, watery. Tolerable but not great.

Purchased on my trip to Nashville. Pours a clean light chestnut brown colour with a white head that dissipates quickly, leaving some small spotty lacing. Tiny bubble carbonation all around. Bread malt scent that is light, with notes of caramel and dark fruits, but very light. A bit of mild hop is found in the background. Very thin bock, hardly any body. The taste is super weak as well, with a little caramel malt and not much else. Maybe some bread. Boring bock (and not much to say for my first beer from Texas).

Pours a dark chestnut brown color with yellowish brown hues when held to a light source and a very think beige head that immediately disappears leaving no lacing. Slightly toasty malt aroma with hints of caramel, hazelnut and toffee. I was expecting a bit more but this beer smells pretty bland. There is also an earthy hop presence. Thin bodied with a slightly dry earthy hop presence that lingers throughout over a slightly toasty caramel malt backbone. Hints of toffee, caramel and a slight nuttiness but all of these characterisitcs are faint. It’s a bit drier than I prefer and not very well balanced. Easy to drink but not something I would buy again.
