Poured the first one, not much head at all, smell was hoppy and metallic with some toasty notes in there as well. Although it is kind of dark in color, it is not a heavy beer and it’s very easy to drink. The flavor is sweet, toasted and nutty with some hop flavor as well. It’s really not bad, more than I expected, but it’s nothing special. It lacks the flavor that real bocks bring to the table and has nothing that makes it stand out, but it tastes pretty good and is light enough to be drinkable, so I can’t complain. tonedef (3), USA does not count | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 15, 2008 this is a good beer. although not a traditional bock, it is one of my favorites. every variety of shiner i have tried have been great. travita (1887), Frisco, Texas, USA

Now it has lost its luster with me. Amber to light brown in color with not too much of a head. Sort of sweetish taste with some hops there and the aroma. The other problem with this one is that people think this is real bock or this is dark beer it is sort of a people misleader. CharlesDarwin (1834), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA

Aroma is a glossy donut sugar glaze, bolstered with some mistletoe. Pours a middle brown with a rim of almond foam. Flavor is a pretty expectable light sweetness, generic in bread crust, mass produced candy bar, and brown sugar. Clean and with minerals. Hops glow out the back in a streak of green tea. Meh. As an American Dark Lager from Texas probably would be. dslunsford1 (55), Hampton, Virginia, USA

| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Feb 10, 2008 Grassy hops with some sort of cereal malts. Pour yields a fizzy, off-white head that goes away completely in about 20 seconds. Body is a nice dark amber or copper. Tasted is decent, but very very very bland. Texture is dry and it is overcarbonated. chadcs (76), Westminster, South Carolina, USA

| 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 1/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Feb 9, 2008 Found this today and realized I hadn’t drank or rated it yet. Here goes. Pours out brown but you can see right through it. Absolutley no head, not a very good looking beer. Aroma is weak sweetness and that is about it. Taste is again some sweet malt with a kind of slightly funky teriaki thing going on. I have to say this is a pretty big dissapointment. I have friends who love this stuff. (Sigh) I guess they really don’t know what good craft beer is.......yet.
