Very malty flavor. Strong aftertaste, of wood/charcoal. A middle of the road beer but erring a little on the weak side. ClarkVV (3578), Allston, Massachusetts, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Nov 2, 2007 Bottle drunk on 10/4/07 The hefeweizen was certainly not enviable, but at least drinkable. More than I can say for this one. Oxidized, with diacetyl and an extremely lacking malt character. Force carbonated, filtered appearance is a clear mahogany with a steadily decaying beige head. Stale would be the best word to describe it, as the aroma and flavor arent really offensive, so much as they are boring and unbeer-like. Old, dried out brown bread in the nose, with a touch of dark fruits if you stretch your imagination. Vanillin and wax crayons, etc, etc... Scratchy, washed out "malts" are minimal in flavor, leaving some light butter and hints of vanilla-like sugars in their place, on the finish, which is too fizzy. Horrible amounts of oxidation, waxiness/paperiness/popcorn-likeness. BrewDad (2366), Olympia, Washington, USA

The flavor is weak and disappointing. beermeashiner (8), USA does not count | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Oct 26, 2007 Those who are trashing Shiner have absolutely no frame of reference. I was grew up on this beer. Shiner is for tailgates and BBQs, one is to drink it by the six pack accompanied by burgers and brats. I do not pretend that it has the body or kick of some of the finer bocks and doppels, however it is great for in the parking lot or on the back porch. Also I’m not sure what a "collage" bar is. fro2218 (466), Atlanta, Georgia, USA
