12 oz. bottle. We have had this locally for some time, but I hadn’t had one until my San Antonio trip. Pours a clear reddish brown color with a smaller off white head. The aroma was very mild caramel, nutty, and slightly toasted. The flavor was slightly toasted malt, hints of caramel, and metallic. A grassy bitterness in the finish. Light/medium bodied and might have received a passing grade without the metallic component.

12 fl oz bottle. Pours clear and golden deep orange to amber with a small white head. Breadish, light caramelish and roasted aroma. Flavour is subdued sweet, caramelish and mild roasted. Vague metallic and flat finish.

Brown pour with a white head. Aroma is mostly caramel. Nothing too spectacular with the flavor.

Well this ain’t no Bock and this site identifies this as a dark lager. Good call. This bears more resemblance to AB product masquerading as a Bock. It’s not really bad- a little nut and caramel but it doesn’t even have the decency to be high ABV. Never buy this again.

Far and away the best Texas-brewed beer I’ve ever purchased at Ralph’s in San Diego! The colour was a particularly nice dark amber, accompanied by a foamy but modest off-white head. The head left a modicum of lacing, and the aroma was most delicate, being perhaps a tad floral/grassy underlying the caramel. Taste was ’mild’ and pleasant, again the touch of caramel, albeit not overpowering. Mouthfeel and aftertaste were inoffensive. A nice, refreshing beer.

This beer was a mainstay in my liver back in 2000 when I traveled to Plano, TX for work training. It was this or Bud... and all well before my serious sampling days. Poured out a nice weak mahogany colour that really looks appetizing in my glass; small foamy off white cap. Weak but non-offending aroma of lightly toasted malts and pears, not too much more. The taste falls short of anything impressive due to the emptiness that should be flavour: hoppy taste that is very mild in terms of bitterness (which is good here), caramel, light toasty malts I think, hint of dirt, moderate front loaded spice, weak nut, minor fruit. Nice zippy carbonation that cannot help the watery, thin feeling in my mouth. Leaves hardly any aftertaste except a faint bitterness. Super easy to drink but the carbonation would slow me down after awhile if I was attempting to get ripped on this. The taste seems to be getting weaker and weaker - how did I come up with all those flavours? The only thing wrong with this beer is the lack of flavour. Screw it. Too damn watery to get any drinking joy out of. Pretty much a total waste of the money that I earned while playing a plastic pail drum set at the LRT entrance after Oilers games.

Not much to talk about. Pours little to no head, light brown. Nose and taste very muted making it highly drinkable. Taste has mild sweet chocolate notes, not creamy but could improve hugely if it had some. Very thin but not terribly watery. This is a great standby at bars in TX when nothing else is available as it easily beats domestic extract lagers.
