Hazmatt (363), Virginia, USA Mar 28, 2007 Bottle. Dark amber color, small head. Grainy, aroma with some hops. malty, caramel taste, some breadiness but leaves an unpleasant bitterness. A bit thin and macro tasting but not terrible. RJBennett (52), Hibbing, Minnesota, USA Mar 28, 2007 cereal, floral, brown, clear, aminimal head, tan foam, medium sweetness, lightly bitter, medium body, creamy, lively, I agree with imbiberAZ, its a little thin, but i enjoyed it alot runaway (24), Seattle, Washington, USA Mar 25, 2007 Updated: Apr 29, 2007Poured from the bottle a clear medium dark with a touch of red. Small white head with tiny bubbles and almost no lacing. Smells a bit malty and musty. Flavor is sweet, mildly grainy, with a slight hop and spice aftertaste. I prefer some of their other styles (Hefeweizen, Kolsch, Dunkelweizen) over this, but it’s still tasty. imbiberAZ (21), USA Mar 24, 2007 The price is always right for Shiner’s Bock so I pick up 6-pak bottles about 3 times a year including recently. I wouldn’t call it decent. I feel sorry for it. It’ s like the little beer that couldn’t. There’s the very faint nose of fullness and richness, but it’s not complete. It poured decent and dark but it must’ve be artificial coloring because the body is thin. Taste also has echoes of possible greatness but thin and watery on palate. Flavor is decent but far away. What I’m trying to say is this could easily, with some love and attention, be a great beer, but it’s mediocre and seems allright with it. If I had to tuneup my car I wouldn’t even buy this if it was 3.99, I’d buy modelo especial in cans. spiffsneed (3), USA does not count Mar 21, 2007 Bottle. Very good ’anytime’ beer. I always keep a six pack of this on-hand for the times when I don’t want to drink anything fancy. Perfect for summer BBQs. dbcahill (11), Deer Lake, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 19, 2007 Tried it on a recent trip to San Antonio and was pleasantly surprised. Thought I’d be stuck drinking Lone Star, but the bartender offered this as the "local" beer, and it was more German (duh!) than it was Texan.
Good aroma, medium-dark brown, and went very well with the BBQ I had for dinner that night. BeerVirgin72 (778), Pataskala, Ohio, USA Mar 14, 2007 Ugh...This smelled great...Unfortunately, went down hill from there...Had on tap at local rest./bar...Dark amber, small tan head...Taste was malty and sweet yeast, but mine had a nasty sour, skunky finish...Could have been the bar, for sure...I am sure the taps arent kept up to par.... mahlon (19), Monterey, California, USA Mar 13, 2007 I was introduced to this beer at a friend’s wedding last year and enjoyed it very much. I thought I was drinking a regionial microbrew. I felt so foolish when I discovered that it’s available at most CA Safeway stores.
