Is a distinctive, rich, full-flavored, deep amber-colored beer with an inviting smooth taste without excessive bitterness.

Poured into a pint glass. A transparent copper color with half finger of head that was bubbly and short-lived. Smells faintly like wet hay. It has an unpleasant smell too, hard to place but not nice. Mild malt sweetness at first, a faint touch of bitter (not really bitter, but less sweet). Watery taste overall. Medium body, moderate carbonation, unremarkable. This was difficult because I used to drink Shiner all the time years ago when I lived in Corpus Christi because it was the only beer with some flavor to it. It’s a caramel colored American lager with a little less carbonation and a touch of sweetness.

Out of a bottle. Dark amber hue with thin white head. No lacing as I drink. Roasted nutty sweetness with hints of toffee. Thin mouth feel and very crisp. Very drinkable but little hop profile. It would be nice to have some dry or bitter notes to balance the sweet quality.

Bottle. Thanks, Nate. Rough malty nose, light caramel. Medium amber color. Thin caramel initial, some corn, touch of bittering, small tracks. Thin body. Thin, light, and moderately tasty. Doesn’t really "shine," and it’s not a bock.

Bottle. Caramel nose, a bit of corn, chocolate. Orange-amber-brown color; clear, with a low head. Some grain in the flavor, caramel, grass, a bit of earth. A bit too sweet but not bad.

Smooth ale with nice hope to complement the grains. Medium carbonation that makes this a solid brew.

Pours odd dark caramel color. Sort of like a root beer color. Dark and clear. You can see through it. Tan head. One finger lacing. Short lived.

Aroma is of roasted malt, but barely. Some hops. Maybe a little toffee, and tree bark.

Tastes not a whole lot different than water. There’s some hops bitterness. Maybe some toffee sweetness. But its more bitter than sweet.

Mouthfeel is very light. Very drinkable. More bitter than sweet. Pleasant bitterness at the finish....yeah. Watery, but satisfying.

Overall I’m not crazy about it. It is weak overall but finishes strong. It reminds me a lot of Budweiser. I could see myself drinking this again.

This is one of my favorites, and has been since way back. Shiner has tried countless styles and none come close to this classic. The color is a deep dark amber. Very little hop finish. It has everything in a bock. The ONLY knock against this brew is it does have a slight after-taste once it warms up a bit.

Brown/amber in appearance, with decent (middle of the road) lacing and o.k. carbonation. Tastes of malts. Definitely one of my go to beers when there isn’t a selection

Great Bock beer. Decent price. Pours light brown. Has a consistent flavor with little after taste. One of my go to darker beers.

Bottle to shaker glass. Pours clear deep amber, small quick head. No lacing or retention. Aroma of faint toasted malt. Taste is sweet. Light bodied, average carbonation, thin mouth feel. Finishes dry. Tasting notes of toasted malt, grass, caramel. corn and wood. Very plain, not a Bock.

Old rating. Bottle from Old Town. Pours a clear amber color with a minimal off-white head. Slight caramel aromas with some molasses and a touch of dark fruit as well. Taste is slightly sweet and partially sour. Malt foward but still fairly well-balanced. Light body with average carbonation. Watery mouthfeel. Dry finish.
