2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
This is the first Bock Iíve ever tried and I think I like the style, but I canít say this was a premium example of it. It was certainly passable, but didnít have much in the way of taste or mouth-feel. I enjoyed the maltiness that was present, and thatís always a sure way to up my rating of a beer. Still, it wasnít as good a beer as Iíve had in the past.
I will try the style again, must definitely, but I doubt Iíd try Shiner Bock unless every other style of beer I like were unavailable. So that does mean Iíd give it another go; itís not bad, just really, really low on my cravings list.

Over all Shiner Bock is a nice clean mass produced beer with no unique characteristics. Good for drinking on a hot Texas day.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pint, from draft. - This is most definately not a bock. Itís way too light and not malty enough. Itís a good malty plain lager though! Breadcrust and slight toffee dominates this malt-forward lager. Its okay.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle. Rosy amber with a fast fading beige head. Aroma of prunes, bread crusts, a faint vinegar note - smells really quite like a kvass. Itís sweet and fairly plainly malty with some stewed fruit, but thereís a little helpful bitterness at the end. Just about OK.

Pours a deep brown from a bottle, very scant head. Sweet malt all the way through, one-dimensional and unoffensive. Meh.

Shiner is probably one of my favorite beers ever, easy to drink. I prefer it to be a little flat
