Yes, it was light bodied and relatively bland, but what flavor was there was decent and it reminded me a bit of Newcastle. For its price, I can think of far worse beers than Shiner Bock and wouldn’t hesitate to pick a sixer up when introducing light beer fans to what they call "dark beer". This one is proof that a darker hue doesn’t always mean stronger flavor. cking (1041), North Canton, Ohio, USA

About what I anticipated, not grand by any means just an easy going drink with some solid character. Minimal scent of sweet bready malt, and that’s it for the aroma. Nice light brown/amber pour with an initial thick off white head. Easy on the palate very drinkable, light, and smooth. Quenching and simple. Flavor is a watery sweet malt with some biscuit characteristic. Sweet with a dry honey quality. Fairly simple beer, should agree with the majority. Stellaaaa (80), Tennessee, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Nov 28, 2009 Pours a thin amber with a white head. It has a faint aroma of malted barley, but the hops are fairly indiscernible. It tastes of lightly roasted barley with a hint of bitter hops. It has a slight metallic aftertaste. This beer has a fairly thin mouthfeel, and is neither exceptional nor bad. I’d drink it again, but it’s not on the top of my list at the same time. kiefdog (1654), Tampa, Florida, USA

Pours a dark golden amber with a thin white head that dissipates quickly and barely laces the glass. Aroma is barley, malt, maple syrup. Flavor is malty, slight sweetness, smooth, and finishes evenly. Medium-bodied. A reasonably well-done bock-style beer. fidel (1021), Livermore, California, USA
