A few centuries ago, during the cold winter months, farmhands in Europe brewed a ‘seasonal provision’ Farmhouse Ale to be enjoyed once spring rolled around. In the farmlands of Shiner, TX that tradition lives on. Which is why our tribute to this style uses Golding, Sterling and Meridian hops for a sweet yet lightly spiced flavor. Our incredibly refreshing farmhouse ale bears the name of the farm to market road just to the south of where our brewery has proudly stood for over 100 years.

Not a bad seasonal offering. Not much aroma. First taste is spicy fruit..some bitterness at end. Finishes clean.

Pours from the bottle a very pale golden with a distinct amount of carbonation and a medium-dense amount of foam. The aroma hints at a bit of sweet doughy pilsner malt, definite spicy yeast esters which come across as slightly bubble-gum and clove, also a very slight sweet floral hop aroma. Flavor is light pilsner malt followed by a sour and somewhat acidic tang. Bitterness is kept pretty low, and the dry finish is accentuated by the high level of carbonation. I wish I didn’t have to buy a 6-pack just to try it.

For some reason I didn’t think I would like this but it was a pretty refreshing beer. Just got finished with a workout and it really hit the spo!

Slightly hazed golden pour with a white head. Sweet fruit esters of apple, banana, and pear. Light lemon zest, some cracker, a hint of biscuit, and some floral hops. A nice sweetness to the flavor of biscuit and fruit esters. Banana, pear, and apple, light lemon tartness, and yeast. Floral hops on the finish.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a small sized head of foamy white colored bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a softly carbonated transparent yellow colored body and a good lacing. . The semi-thick mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish. The thick flavor contained notes of mild red malt mild hops and malt. An OK brew just nothing special.

Bottle. Golden pour with white head. Has a banana, clove and Belgian like aroma. Flavor is nowhere as vivid as its aroma. Boring.

marcus (7445) - Sacramento, California, USA - MAR 8, 2013
Bottle from Total Wine, Sacramento. Pours cloudy amber with a rich white head and a fruity aroma. There is a carbonated funky spice fruit flavor with a dry finish. Not much of a saison.

bottle. I’ve not had good luck with shiner beers. This isn’t bad compared to the rest of their offerings, but it’s really not a very good beer. Pretty bland farmhouse with no distinct flavor.

It poured a pale amber color with a white head. The aroma was of caramel, grass, yeast and a hint of spice. The taste was of sweet malts, grass, bread and spice.
