A few centuries ago, during the cold winter months, farmhands in Europe brewed a ‘seasonal provision’ Farmhouse Ale to be enjoyed once spring rolled around. In the farmlands of Shiner, TX that tradition lives on. Which is why our tribute to this style uses Golding, Sterling and Meridian hops for a sweet yet lightly spiced flavor. Our incredibly refreshing farmhouse ale bears the name of the farm to market road just to the south of where our brewery has proudly stood for over 100 years.

bottle. I’ve not had good luck with shiner beers. This isn’t bad compared to the rest of their offerings, but it’s really not a very good beer. Pretty bland farmhouse with no distinct flavor.

It poured a pale amber color with a white head. The aroma was of caramel, grass, yeast and a hint of spice. The taste was of sweet malts, grass, bread and spice.

3/4/13. Bottle from PorterPounder awhile back and forgot to rate... also on tap at Dahlia’s. Hazy golden pour with a big khaki head. Overly phenolic aroma, straight up plastic, with touches of malty sweetness. Phenolics and sweet esters on the flavor. Eh.

Almost a finger of head on a hazy, orange/golden colored body. The aroma is nice: banana, grain, lemon and nectarine. The taste is watery with hints of banana and lemon. Too mild. The texture is soft with moderate carbonation. Not a bad beer but the taste could have more to it.

Serving: 12 oz. bottle from Wegmans Leesburg. It pours a gold color with a small white head. The nose is weak with a plastic, yeast, and straw. The flavor had a light sweetness with slight yeast, grass, and hay notes. A little spice as well. Light in body with flabby mouthfeel. Certainly not the best example of the style.

bottle. golden pour. main complaint is that it is just a bit watery all round - weak aroma and too mild on the saison funk for my likings. Perhaps OK as a watered down and bland version for a hot Texan summer but nothing special compared to other offerings.

Bottle. Pours gold with a small white head. Somewhat sweet aroma with light notes of hay, wheat and funk. Moderately sweet flavor with hints of earth, grass and light malts. Pretty bland but unoffensive.

(12oz bottle) Pours a clear pale yellow body with a small white head. Aroma of plastic, sulfur, dustiness, florals, grass, earth, and nuts. Flavor of grass, grain, citrus, earth, and light butter.

Pours a sharp clean gold with a thin and fizzy white head. Nose is very mellow/mild with a touch of spice and grassy notes. Flavor bottoms out. A hint of spice in the mouth and thats it. Watery/thin. BLeh

12 oz. bottle poured into a shaker- served a 95 percent transparent sunfaded wheat straw color, flimsy one finger head formed, collapsed upon itself, and quickly disappeared. Aroma of very light funk, musk, spice, light fruit, and hard water- really, hard water. Hits the mouth with a light body, malt tastes like generic Wheaties, some spice in the middle, finish fades quickly. Try again Shiner.
