COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A few centuries ago, during the cold winter months, farmhands in Europe brewed a ‘seasonal provision’ Farmhouse Ale to be enjoyed once spring rolled around. In the farmlands of Shiner, TX that tradition lives on. Which is why our tribute to this style uses Golding, Sterling and Meridian hops for a sweet yet lightly spiced flavor. Our incredibly refreshing farmhouse ale bears the name of the farm to market road just to the south of where our brewery has proudly stood for over 100 years.

12 ounce bottle from Harris Teeter Crozet. Pours a clear golden color with a thin off-white head that fades very quickly. Aroma of hay, grain, mild barnyard, sweet finish. The taste is earth, hay, malt. Medium bodied. Meh.

Bottle. Light amber color with a small, bubbly white head. Lemon zest and funky yeast aroma. Light funky flavor with a crisp, bitter apple finish. Watery texture with average carbonation. Refreshing, just like its billed and not half bad either but nothing I would seek out.

(12oz bottle) clear very pale gold, no head almost at all. Nose of funk, penny, stale raisin if such a thing could exist, paper, light coriander/peppercorn. Taste of metal, paper, light peppercorn, trash, oxidation. Not very good. Kind of bad.

Pours light orange gold with a slight white head. Aroma is lightly funky with some spice. Good start. Med minus body. Flavor is decently funky (tho more would be nice) and lightly spiced. It seems to have a little wheat/cardboard aspect at first, but it washes away. Finishes like a light saison.

The aroma is slightly funky with mostly a wheat bread like yeast. There is spices, banana, malt, and grassy hops. The appearance is golden. The taste is like the aroma. The palate is thin. Overall nice tasting but thin and slightly watery.

Bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a clear, pale gold with a half finger of white head. Aroma of bready bubble gum yeast, pears and some light baking spices. Taste is light sweet. Bready spicy yeast and a little pear. Medium bodied with a slick and slightly thick texture. Lively carbonation and a decently long finish. Overall, not bad. Probably one of the better Shiners I’ve had.

Golden yellow, clear. I respect Shiner and like most of their brews but this one is a no-go for me. I think that it is the meridian hops along with a few flavorings that give this ale a spiced aftertaste. I drank this with a few buddies and there was nobody on the fence. Either you liked it or you forced yourself to finish the bottle. Coriander / clove / anise type of flavor. Not for me.

Clear, brassy gold with a short and short-lived whte head. Scent is lemon, yeast. Taste is spiced yeast, light fruit... Slightly funky-dusty....very tame and light, but a decent flavour.

12oz twist-off bottle. Clear golden color, white foam. Aroma of pale malts, citrus hops, and lemon zest. Tastes bready. Flavor of pale grain, Saison yeast. Very dry finish. A sessionable Spring Saison. (3592)

Bottle - Pours clear golden with a foamy white head. Nose is yeasty bubble gum, pear, light spicing, and a bit of astringency, almost like subtle rubbing alcohol. Taste has a bit of the astringency as well, though it comes off more like latex or plastic. Lightly spiced pale malt, dusty yeast, and more pear/fruit cocktail on the finish. A bit of the hopping comes through on the finish as well. Soft and smooth in the mouth. I think this one gets unfairly docked because it’s Shiner, but that said it’s pretty unremarkable.
