Pours a sharp clean gold with a thin and fizzy white head. Nose is very mellow/mild with a touch of spice and grassy notes. Flavor bottoms out. A hint of spice in the mouth and thats it. Watery/thin. BLeh

12 oz. bottle poured into a shaker- served a 95 percent transparent sunfaded wheat straw color, flimsy one finger head formed, collapsed upon itself, and quickly disappeared. Aroma of very light funk, musk, spice, light fruit, and hard water- really, hard water. Hits the mouth with a light body, malt tastes like generic Wheaties, some spice in the middle, finish fades quickly. Try again Shiner.

Pours a slight opaque straw yellow with thick white head, decent lacing. Aroma of bubble gum, yeast, straw, citrus, spices, and slight herbal hops. Flavor matches well and makes for a nice enjoyable brew, especially considering the source.

Draft at Hotel Victor...
The nose is skunk/funk, stale malts, grains, cat pee, and a bit of fruit...
The pour is a clear golden orange color with a small white head and light lace...
The taste is also kinda skunky, some funky note, yeast, fruit, and no hop...
It has a fairly light body, feels kinda watery, with average carbonation...
Definitely not a winner.

An excellent true farmhouse/saison, first one I’ve had by a major craft-brewery. Slightly (very slightly) sour, tastes a lot like a homebrew Kolsch, as it just has that sort of rough taste you find in non-commercial beer. Compares favorably, imho with Belgian "authentic" farmhouse ales.

Summary: ot a great saison by any means, but where this one really fails is appearance and palate.

Very good, extremely refreshing and nice if you mix it with a slight drop of orange juice. Very enjoyable and aftertaste too

Bottle.
Head is initially small, frothy/fizzy, white, mostly diminishing.
Body is dark yellow.
Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain, husks), lightly hoppy (flowers), with notes of banana, dish rag, pepper, fusel alcohol.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter, unclean, husky.
Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic.
Ridiculously husky and dirty tasting. Saison? Hahaha. It’s vaguely Belgian-styled, I suppose, but come on...
4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 ronaldtheriot (778) - Laplace, Louisiana, USA - FEB 21, 2013
Shiner FM 966 has a thick, fluffy, off-white head, a hazy, golden appearance, some streaming bubbles, and some lacing left behind. The aroma is very bursting- spicy pepper, cracker, subtle citrus, and some other indistinguishable smells. Taste is of spicy, yeasty malt, some hops, maybe coriander, white bread, and sweetness. Mouthfeel is medium and slick, and Shiner FM 966 finishes mostly dry, easy drinking, and delicious. Overall, this is nice and well made. I think it’s one that needs to be checked out. RJT
