COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A few centuries ago, during the cold winter months, farmhands in Europe brewed a ‘seasonal provision’ Farmhouse Ale to be enjoyed once spring rolled around. In the farmlands of Shiner, TX that tradition lives on. Which is why our tribute to this style uses Golding, Sterling and Meridian hops for a sweet yet lightly spiced flavor. Our incredibly refreshing farmhouse ale bears the name of the farm to market road just to the south of where our brewery has proudly stood for over 100 years.

Aromas of banana, flora, bubble gum, and bread. Hazy, pale gold with a fully lasting, white head. Dry, slightly fruity, and with bright floral notes. Light bodied with refreshing, fluffy carbonation, and a bready finish with mild banana notes.

Poured from the bottle a coworker brought me to try. Aroma is banana, some clove. Very thin head and thin lacing. Flavour is good, but basic banana ester. Very clear with a slight haze. This doesn’t impress but it’s a basic farmhouse. I feel like there are far better out there. Palate finishes thin, watery but clean.

12 oz. bottle for review from Shiner. For a mass-marketed saison, it acquits itself pretty well. General malty smell, with a bit of bubble gum ester after I’ve sipped a bit of it. Pours a golden, clearly filtered color under a thick but fizzy head in my Duvel glass, column of bubbles keeps on coming. Taste has that complex savory quality from wheat malt and what tastes like a Saison yeast, though it’s most likely Shiner’s house strain. No bitterness, just enough to counteract the normal malt sweetness. Definitely not a lawnmower beer, but the beer for after chores and before dinner.

On tap at Dahlias, why we left Kickbacks and came here I’m still not sure, and what do I end up with, freaking shiners to rate, pours clear gold with a white head, the aroma has tons of plastic mixed in with some funk, and not the good kind of funk, the funk that’s disgusting, flavor is way off with tons of plastic coming through, horrible, absolutely horrible.

From the aroma, I was not expecting much. Pleasant surprise on the taste. Lively carbination when you pour, settles down quite a bit. White head with lots of lacing left on the glass. Slight fruity taste, apples, pears, and bread. Descnt beer for a warm day.

Bottle from ABC on Betton. Yellow pour with thin white head and slight lacing. Aroma is light malts, straw, banana, lights spice. Tastes are bread and honey sweet up front then a slight sour vibe. Little sulfery. Yeast. Dry finish. Thinnish palate.

Has a light saison-style aroma. Looks nice. This is pretty simple in the body with a bit flavor to it that just seems off in the finish. Not quite right.

Bottle. Pours hazy gold with a nice white head that leaves a nice moderate lacing. Aroma is cotton candy, a bit of spice and funk. Taste is sugar with a light tartness. Crisp finish. Makes a nice dessert beer.

Bottle. Poured clear amber color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with fair lacing. Medium sweet balanced aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium bittersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. This is a soft drinkable beer.

frothy white head that lingers. amber straw color very clear. aroma of carmel and basementy yeast. Has the distinctive belgian yeast flavor. light to mid body. slightly more hops profile than I’m used to with a saison. Definitely an american interpretation of the style. I would recommend this one to a macro-fan who is feeling a little adventurous.
