2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 rougeau13 (1067) - Texas, USA - OCT 7, 2010
Bottle. Hazy orange color with no head to speak of. Aroma is wheaty and citrus, but faint. Taste is hard to pin down because its quite bland. Hints of wheat and a weird metallic taste; perhaps a touch of citrus is in there somewhere too. Body is normal for a hefe. This beer seems like more of a pale lager with some wheat beer mixed in than an actual hefeweizen. Not impressed.

I like the shiner hefe. Its clean, but dirty, weird I know. Typical of unfiltered beer, its cloudy and a liitle heavier on the palate. Tasty with a slice of orange. Pour it in a tall glass, it great.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 rampmaster (643) - Alden, New York, USA - SEP 28, 2010
Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a Hefeweizen glass. The label has a brief description of the beer but no ABV or freshness date
Appearance: It has a cloudy yellow/tan colored body with a tall three finger tall head. The head is off white in color and has a thick and creamy look that makes some nice sticky lace rings at the top of the glass.
Smell: The aroma has a light yeasty/bready character with some hints of fresh citrus.
Taste/Palate: Its flavor has a modest medium body with a light bready and yeasty character which is both earthy and fruity. There is a mild sweetness from the malt and a nice touch of lemon and orange citrus zest before the hops come in and add a slight bitterness and dryness. Light hop bitterness and dry yeast notes quickly fade from the tongue in the finish.
Notes: The light easy drinking nature of this Hefeweizen is perfect for heat of the summer and the lemon and orange zest is a nice touch to a classic style.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 12/20 Mora2000 (2732) - Dallas, Texas, USA - SEP 16, 2010
The beer pours a hazy straw yellow color with a white head. The aroma is very heavy on the wheat, but I also get a little bit of orange citrus and a little bit of banana. It smells more like a regular American Wheat beer than a hefeweizen. The flavor is more like a traditional hefeweizen, but it is not that impressive. I get some bananas and wheat, but I also get some wheat. There is just the tiniest bit of cloves. Medium, slightly creamy mouthfeel and medium carbonation. There is nothing offensive about the beer, but like a lot of beers from Shiner, it is nothing special.
