3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Dacrza (302) - Great Meadows, New Jersey, USA - NOV 18, 2011
Situation: Watching a Penn State comeeback fall short...and a Penn State reputation fall further from grace...
Glassware: weizen glass...
Appearance: cloudy, hazy, soft yellow-orange body with a half-inch white head; mild effervescence...
Aroma: thick, doughy yeasty aromas...the kind one expects from a hefe...
Palate: soft, thick mouthfeel--almost creamy...
Taste: mellow, unpronounced flavor--banana and fruitiness enter late...
Overall: a pleasant experience, a "dirty" refreshment that works well within the style...a useful beer for hotter days....

Pours a hazy yellow with a medium white head. Strong alcohol and spice aroma. Fizzy and thin texture, medium to light body. Slightly sweet and light malt taste with spice notes. Not strong on flavor. Still decent and very drinkable.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Bierkrug (1644) - Idar-Oberstein (In Senegal), Rhineland-Palatinate, GERMANY - NOV 5, 2011
UPDATED: NOV 10, 2011 355 ml bottle in Germany smuggled in by Travlr and many thanks. Pours a hazy orange-yellow with a lasting rocky beige head which chackles as it fades. Aroma is gum, fruit and alcohol. Taste is citrus, dry dusty version of the German ones. Palate is watery and dry and a bit harsh. I know that I am hard on non-German Hefes, but this one falls short of the mark. At the same time it is drinkable.
2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 mansquito (1607) - washington, Washington DC, USA - OCT 20, 2011
Harris Teeter, DC variety sixer ($7): Pours a hazy yellow with a white head. Aroma is predictably of banana and some spice. Taste is slightly sweet and not much past that. Basically, this is a tremendously boring and stripped down wheat beer. That being said, it is not at all offensive and is perfectly drinkable.

Very nice hefe. Cloudy with notes of wheat, bananas, and cloves on the nose. Very pleasant wheat character on the palate with a smooth finish. Classic hefe.
