Shiner Hefeweizen (Hef-ay-vite-zen) is a classic unfiltered Bavarian-style wheat brew. Once poured into a glass, the distinctively cloudy Shiner Hefeweizen delivers a fresh, satisfying flavor from start to finish.

Bottle. Poured a light hazy yellow with a thick white head. Aroma of wheat and a hint of lemon. Tastes of watery wheat and lemon. It is an ok hefe.

From a 12 oz bottle this poured a cloudy butterscotch color with a fat white head and good lacing. Nose of citrus and banana, Medium mouthfeel. Flavor of wheat and citrus. Very drinkable and a good rendition of the style.

12oz bottle. Pours a murky orange with a foamy white head. Lots of carbonation. Aroma is of wheat, lemon zest, hops, and spice. Taste is of wheat, grain, hops, spice, and lemon. Not a big malt presence in this beer. Nothing spectacular.

I’m not much of a fan of wheat ales of hefeweizens...based on the fact that the only flavor is malt/wheat. Not much creativity there. I find they are only good on hot summer days. This one fits that category exactly.

Bottled, poured into a weizen glass. Straw colored, mostly clear with a large white head that is partially-to-mostly diminishing. Lots of bubbles permeate from the bottom of the glass. Semi-sour nose, with some sweet wheat, straw, and lemon peel. Heavily grainy flavor, some citric (lemon) notes, cardboard and black pepper spice. Metallic, sour finish with mildewy grass and stale bread flavors. Quite heavily carbonated (which normally I’d dislike), but in this it helps to cleanse the palate of some dreadful flavors. Overall, a poor hefe.

UPDATED: MAR 1, 2011 Stands close to the hefe style. Has the sour aftertaste of a Bavarian wheat. The taste and everything up until then are alright. 1.5
RE-RATE 3/1/11 Bottle. t pours a hazy orange color with golden touches and a heavy white foamy head.

The aroma is mainly grain and soured grain at that. I suppose there is a slight bit of banana and citrus sweetness but not by much.

It has a dusty flavor that mixes with a big citrus boost and banana notes. This ends with as much sweet fruit as it begins with. Not bad, and LOADS better than the day previous.

nice citrusy aroma with a hazy reddish-orange color and white head. Refreshing flavor invites you to go back for another.

I like this ale as an alternative to my normal Hefe. It has a refreshing citrusy taste and is very smooth. It is a great summer time ale, but really good anytime.
