2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Chudwick (360) - Taylor Mill (KY), FRANCE - AUG 6, 2011
Bottle in a weizen glass. Pours hazy light honey with limited white head. Aroma is citrus and orange. Sweet taste and spicy finish. I think this would pair well with seafood. Not a bad beer, but the aftertaste could get annoying after a while.

Poured from bottle. Aroma of lemon rind and sugar. Cloudy gold, thin white head. Citrus notes in flavor, along with dry wheat, yeast, spice and a trace of dark honey. Citrus flavors start to bite as it warms, leading to a somewhat unsatisfying finish. I will avoid this one in the future.

12oz bottle from the Shiner Family Reunion variety pack, shared with my cousin. Classic hefeweizen appearance - cloudy yellow, thin fading head leaving sheety lacing. Not the familiar heweizen aroma I’m used to, though, or at least, there’s not as much [now that I’m logging these notes, I see that it’s actually a wheat ale, big surprise]. Lemon peel aroma is apparent, some spice. Over-carbonated - too thick, which hurts drinkability. Light sweet taste, decent beer. E: "Sour aftertaste."

Not really a big Hefeweizen fan so i haven’t drunken enough of these to compare the flavor but it had a nice citrus after taste to it which was very refreshing.

Bottle at home, rated against BJCP 2004 guidelines. Aroma: citrus, yeast. Appearance: cloudy, deep yellow, medium white head. Taste: big citrus flavor, bready aftertaste. Palate: slightly chewy, medium-high carbonation. Overall: tasty, worth trying but not amazing.

Out of all the Shiners, I think this one is the worst. The taste sucks. I usually don’t put lemons in my hefeweizens but I think I need an entire lemon just to give it some flavor. Litlle bit of advice, keep your money.

a nice cloudy yellow and golden brew with a golden beer aroma and flavor that is spiced up and enhanced with a good yeasty wheat body. seems a bit hoppy with the lemon and clean malted grain flavors, just a bit sweet and satisfying with a warming hint and thankfully absent vegetable flavor. after having been forced to drink a blue moon yesterday this was a real treat!

A nice Hefe, but on a different axis of flavor from some others I’ve had. More orangey. Still delicious!
